My Notes: If we pulled out the Old and New World meter this is heavy in what I think of as Old world styling. Starting with the nose, with it's earthy and floral scents which wrap a vanilla and cherry light fruit aromas. While light in offering it was a joy once you focused on what it offered. The flavors were bright. The fruit there, but more as a back drop to the other flavors that were produced. Strong enough to hold a steady note from start to an excellent finish. Flavors much like the nose were subtle, focus required to sense them or hell with defining it.. just drink and enjoy! But caught glimpses of sour cherries, licorice, and just a hint of bitter tea leaf. All surrounded in a earthy soil flavoring. Wonderful! Structure was well done. Balance in a soft, but noticeable tannin. Acidity enough to carry a bit of sweetness of the fruit to offset nicely the tannin. Easy drinking, light to moderate and smooth mouth feel. Sum this wine up.... Doesn't stand out in the crowded noisy room, doesn't force itself on you to "wow" you. But take your time to sit one on one with this wine and it really has much more to offer than was originally noticed. While this is not an over complex wine it is by all accounts as a well crafted, clean (rare these days) bottle of Negroamaro. This is one of those times I love just blindly grabbing a bottle with no expectations and being well rewarded for my almost blind luck. I will be happily buying more! Moore Bros purchase, thinking may be a tough one to find. (1527 views)
