Tasted by BuffaloLou on 1/20/2013 & rated 87 points: Nice Zin, but needs 60 minutes in the bottle (less in decanter) to open up. A little lighter than most Cali Zins, but still nice. Better choices at this price point though. (2461 views)

Quite the surprise here...
Super Zinberry, black pepper on the nose, very flirtatious, loads of spice and very forward - I often wish Zin was this upfront on many higher end cuvees...
Delicious, very unctuous raspberry, blackberry, loads of spice and once again appearing upfront and ready to please - dynomite with pizza and football on Sunday nite. (1229 views)
Tasted by wcacern on 10/15/2007 & rated 87 points: consistent with previous tastings. becoming a favorite for valued zin. (2720 views)

Old Vine Cuvée

Early in the 1960s Chappellet Vineyards planted Chenin Blanc vines. Since 1992, the winery has selected the best lots of Chenin Blanc from its 40-year old vines for their Old Vine Cuvee. The 2004 vintage is the last to be made from this block of the vineyard. The vines were ripped out after that harvest.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
