Tasted by melvinyeowq on 12/9/2023 & rated 92 points: Top 1ers for AK's birthday: Late library release from 2018. Haven’t heard much discussion about the ‘99 vintage in champagne but the ones I’ve tried have been great and they seem to be at peak. Not a house I am familiar with, made in a crowd-pleasing style that reminded me of Piper. Good balance between richness and sweetness, some nougat and almond notes beginning to develop. (604 views)
Tasted by andip01 on 8/13/2023: Long gone (496 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/15/2022: Paired with a sushi omakase at one of my most favorite places in NYC (Sushi Amane). This was very nice aged drinking champagne. Not perhaps the absolute best of those but very good and went nicely with the food and overall was an incredibly enjoyable evening. (1044 views)
Tasted by danckie on 2/11/2022 & rated 92 points: Elegant and unbelievably vibrant, even after 20+ years.
Amazing good length. Buy if you get an opportunity. (1359 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 1/27/2022 & rated 95 points: Very popular tonight but not in the lofty heights of the last bottle. Main reason is that this one was much more flat in terms of the bubbles, felt like a bottle from the 80ies. I guess the cork was not top on this one. Aromas were fantastic though with caramelized, floral and citrus elements intertwined with baked apples. (1999 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 9/17/2021 & rated 97 points: Beautiful nose of mature Chardonnay based premium Champagne around brioche, nougat, herbs chrysanthemum. The palate was fantastic as well, the mousse reduced to petillant, great lemon interplay with caramelized and bitter almond finish. Lot's of aah's and ooh's at the table and my French friends all admitted that the one category they need to bulk up in their cellar is aged prestige Cuvee Champagne. (2605 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 1/5/2021 & rated 91 points: Quite flat on opening. That said I'm enjoying aged champagne. I'm so sophisticated ;)

Bit of brut hit at the start than class down for a nice gentle experience, if a little bland (1889 views)
Tasted by burgundy-panda on 11/22/2020: Biscuit and hazelnut notes, high to medium acidity, medium body, quite fruity, medium long aftertaste (1591 views)
Tasted by 32lakeviewwine on 4/13/2018: Serious age on it (3724 views)
Tasted by Henger Gabriella on 10/31/2017 & rated 90 points: Bread, caramel. Small amount of bubbles. Enjoyable acidity. (4016 views)
Tasted by millennialwinegeek on 5/23/2017 & rated 90 points: Good, definitely a little over the hill. Lots of salted caramel, soft and not incredibly effervescent, with a slightly short and muted finish. Delicious, but I wish I could've experienced it 5-6 years ago. (4747 views)
Tasted by dron_ap on 2/2/2017 & rated 88 points: Poor quality for prestige cuvee. Not fading yet, but very annoying sweet style lacking power (4894 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 1/29/2017 & rated 90 points: Dinner with Rich and Paul (Bella Trattoria): Light golden; bright minerality and some components of age but also seems a bit fading; palate has some fruit but fading, medium acid, nice slight yeast; medium length. Good champagne but limited for a tête-de-cuvée. 90 (5092 views)
Tasted by Tpairing on 1/14/2017 & rated 89 points: The bubbles are still there but past its peak and its mellowing down - green fruit and lemon but the mustiness seem more pronounced. A mature bottle - must have had more glory but this was enjoyable. (2794 views)
Tasted by acheng on 2/14/2016 & rated 91 points: Similar notes of lemon meringue. The bubbles in this bottle is smooth and a little more energetic than my previous experience. Some oxidative notes suggest there is no need to hold for long term. (4163 views)
Tasted by Toronto Joe on 5/11/2014 & rated 90 points: Tons of meringue, lemon, and a touch briny. Slow to open up and overall all quite light. Good, but not a stunner (6252 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 2/10/2014: NobleRottersSydney - Champagne (Verde, East Sydney): {cork} (Gordon) Brioche, bakery aromas. This has a lovely texture – fine, creamy bubbles, medium weight – but there’s a stale bread/browning apples character to the palate. A mustiness that’s hard to love (although nothing seems cork-related). Medium-length finish; structurally very fine. Perhaps the magic is just lost on me. Drink now on this showing! (6579 views)
Tasted by Dulcie and Aylwin on 5/12/2013: Among the more improbable occasions to sample a vintage champagne: a child's first birthday party. We enter and are offered mimosas, which, having just had lunch, decline politely. Later I espy the unmistakable Belle Epoque label (surely one of the more alluring names in all winedom) and approach in disbelief. What, this was used in the mimosa? Sacrilege for sure, but mercifully quite a bit remains which I slyly endeavor to rectify. Fortunately I find a real glass amid the debris of paper cups and plates. A modest bead (no idea how long it was open; it was not cold), signs of age on the nose, (dare I say slightly corky?), somewhat faded on the palate, yeast, toast, faint citrus, lingering finish. A shocking but pleasant surprise. (7418 views)
Tasted by EuroCaveNZ on 12/22/2012 flawed bottle: there slight cork taint to this wine. this was on the nose but it also affected the middle palate. dry it had also lost most of its sparkle. flinty. (8303 views)
Tasted by Winestein on 12/17/2012 & rated 91 points: Apple and brioche. (6704 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 10/7/2012 & rated 90 points: Very musty/ocean water nose. Loads of minerality and a touch of honey on the finish.

Tasted by avp on 7/11/2012: Steely and slightly reductive nose with lemon rind, green apple, chalk, honeyed florality, nougat and slight wool.
Dry and pretty lightbodied steely palate with lovely smooth moussé. Green apple to white peach fruit, lime, lemon, wool and florality towards the aftertaste.
Quite elegant even if not really that substantial; a lesser performance, but delivering subtleties. I liked. (4460 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 1/2/2012: Mousse was fine, but depth and complexity nowhere near worth the tariff. (4132 views)
Tasted by acheng on 5/26/2011 & rated 90 points: Fabulous nose of toast, lemon meringue, hazelnut. Bright and flavorful. The only problem is an alarmingly lack of effervescence which counts for a lot for a champagne. Looking like a much older champagne than a 1999. Tasting more like a still wine than sparkling. Otherwise, would have rating higher (4870 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 5/24/2011 & rated 92 points: A private dinner (Restaurant Nathan Outlaw **, Rock, UK): Really lovely, rich, toasty, almost fishy Pinot Noir, balanced by what is clearly Côte des Blancs Grand Cru Chardonnay, fruity and forward, not great depth or staying power but ever so charming and stylish. Lady Geraldine Burford in a glass. Now - 2014. (3874 views)

Perrier-Jouët

Producer website
Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Epernay by Pierre-Nicolas-Marie Perrier and his wife, Adele Jouët. One of the most prestigious houses in Champagne, the firm was shipping wine to Great Britain by 1813 and to the United States by 1837. Perrier-Jouët owns 266 acres of vineyards in Champagne, with an average rating of 95%, and is known worldwide for its consistency of style. By the end of the 19th Century, its Brut cuvées earned the reputation of nobility and prestige that continues today. Perrier Jouët's glamorous "Cuvée Belle Epoque", known in the United States as Fleur de Champagne, was launched in 1969 and has become the most important cuvée de prestige to appear after World War II. The bottle is adorned with enamel-painted anenomes originally created by Emile Gallé in 1900, but the wine is as famous for its taste as it is for its beautiful packaging.

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
