In der Nase sehr dunkel, phenolisch-frisch, dunkelbeerig. Angedeutete eukalyptische Frische und etwas Karamell.
Am Gaumen fast schwarz, mit viel Holz und hintergründigem Salz. Der Wein funkelt fast in seiner Mineralität. Schöne Säurestruktur.
Im Abgang sehr fein, sehr dezidiert, pikant.
Insgesamt sehr nervig, vibrierend, mit toller Frische. Macht sehr viel Spaß und hat viel Potential.

Das Weingut Bernhard Huber
- mit roten Burgundern an der Spitze
Vor über 700 Jahren brachten Zisterziensermönche den Spätburgunder nach Malterdingen. Der Gutshof der Mönche, "curia" genannt, befand sich damals im Gewann Mönchhofmatten, dort, wo auch heute das Weingut Huber liegt. Die Mönche trafen in Malterdingen auf das gleiche Terroir, den "Muschelkalk- verwitterungsboden", wie in Burgund. Und sie brachten die hohe Schule des Weinmachens mit. In Rebsortenbüchern und diversen Weinlexika findet sich deshalb für den Spätburgunder als Synonym immer noch die Bezeichnung "Pinot Noir" und "Malterdinger".
Bei der Rotweinbereitung ist die traditionelle Maischegärung ein wichtiger Schritt. Dazu kommt eine strenge Ertragsreduzierung. Die besten Rotweine reifen bis zu 18 Monaten in Eichenfässern. Hier verschmelzen die Tannine und Fruchtaromen des Spätburgunders mit dem Einfluß des Barriques. Dadurch entwickeln die Weine vielschichtige Duft- und Geschmacksnuancen.
Eine Besonderheit des Weingutes verbirgt sich hinter dem Begriff "Malterer". Dieser gehaltvolle Weißwein ist eine Weinkomposition aus Weißem Burgunder und Freisamer, einer Sorte, die vor über 70 Jahren in Freiburg durch eine Kreuzung aus Ruländer und Sylvaner entstanden ist. Im Sortenspiegel des 26 Hektar umfassenden Gutes befindet sich hauptsächlich Spätburgunder, aber auch die anderen Burgundersorten: Weißer und Grauer Burgunder, Chardonnay und Auxerrois. Die beiden letzteren werden aus über 40 Jahre alten Rebstöcken gewonnen.
Der Philosophie von Bernhard Huber entspricht es, alle Weine durchgären zu lassen und ihnen eine lange Lagerzeit auf der Hefe zu gönnen. Somit entstehen fast ausschließlich trockene Weine. In den Kellern reifen auch Pinot-Sekte zwischen zwei und sieben Jahren auf der Champagnerhefe. Alle Sekte werden als Flaschengärung nach dem traditionellen Verfahren erzeugt.
"Hubers Wein ist absolut einer der besten der Welt", schwärmte Francois Mauss, ein Franzose und Präsident der "Grand Jury European", eines bekannten in Luxemburg ansässiges Verkostungsgremiums, in der Zeitschrift NEWSWEEK (Nov. 4, 2002). "Wenn Sie mich vor 20 Jahren gefragt hätten, ob die Deutschen eines Tages solche Weine erzeugen könnten, hätte ich gesagt: niemals, niemals, niemals."
Dichte, Komplexität, Nuancenreichtum und Eleganz sind die Attribute, die wir mit unseren Spätburgundern verbinden. Hinzu kommt das sorgfältige Herausarbeiten der Lagentypizität. Bei den weißen Burgundersorten, vom Auxerrois, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder bis zum Chardonnay, legen wir Wert auf vielschichtige, mineralisch geprägte Weine. Verspielt duftige Muskateller und Müller-Thurgau sowie Rieslinge von Rasse und Eleganz runden das Programm ab.

- With red Burgundies at the top
Than 700 years ago Cistercian monks brought the Pinot Noir to Malterdingen. Called the manor of the monks, "curia", was at that time in Won Mönchhofstraße mats, where lies the vineyard Huber today. The monks met in Malterdingen on the same terroir, the "Muschelkalk weathering ground", as in Burgundy. And they brought with them the fine art of wine making. In various wine grape varieties books and encyclopedias therefore finds for the Pinot Noir as a synonym is still the designation "Pinot Noir" and "Malterdinger".
In the red vinification traditional mash fermentation is an important step. In addition, a strict yield reduction. The best red wines are aged up to 18 months in oak barrels. Here the tannins and fruit flavors of Pinot Noir blend with the influence of oak barrels. Thus, the wines develop complex flavors and nuances.
A special feature of the winery is behind the term "Malterer". This full-bodied white wine is a blend of White Burgundy wine and Freisamer, a variety that has developed over 70 years ago in Freiburg by a cross between Pinot Gris and Sylvaner. In Varieties of the 26-hectare Good is mainly Pinot Noir, but also the other Pinot varieties: White and Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Auxerrois. The latter two are obtained from 40 year old vines.
The philosophy of Bernhard Huber corresponds to allow thorough fermentation the wines and to give them a long storage time on the lees. Thus arise almost exclusively dry wines. In the cellars Pinot sect between two and seven years to mature the champaign. All sparkling wines are produced as a bottle-fermented by the traditional method.
"Huber's wine is absolutely one of the best in the world," enthused Francois Mauss, a Frenchman and President of the "Grand Jury European", a well-known resident in Luxembourg Panelists, in Newsweek (Nov. 4, 2002). "If you had asked me 20 years ago if the Germans could one day produce such wines, I would have said never, never, never."
