 Tasted by Philip_Bundpropperne on 3/9/2024 & rated 90 points: Rating: 4,0/5,0. (503 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 11/2/2022 & rated 92 points: Decanted to dissolve a hint of carbon dioxide. Light as feather in every respect, except in flavour intensity. Spiced strawberries and flowers, cool mountain air, bright minerality, dry but juicy, fresh and flowing, mild tannins, finish with a hint of green apple, very good resonance and length. Not made with ageing in mind I think. It is what it is - and I love it. Drink soon(ish). (1775 views)
Tasted by jlhkiss on 11/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Opened and decanted 1.5 hours ahead of grilled lemon butter chicken. Super light, translucent ruby color. The nose brings red roses, blackberry jam, and spring herbs. The palate is light, square, textured, and fizzy (which moderated with air), bringing pomegranate, strawberries, rhubarb, and scattered cloves, spices, and forest floor into a juicy, extended finish with low tannins. Overall, very distinctive wine that grew on us as we consumed the bottle. Drink 2022-2026. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92. (1177 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 7/13/2021 & rated 92 points: Organic viticulture, 100% Poulsard planted in 1959 on marnes blanches and marnes grises, fermented with indigenous yeasts, bottled unfined and unfiltered, 11.2% ABV. Decanted to dissolve the carbon dioxide which acts as a natural stabliiser. Extremely pale tawny colour; mountain air on the light and fresh nose, spiced strawberries and aromatic green herbs, hints of flowers and earth; dry but juicy palate, supple and feather-light, fresh and flowing, with only the mildest of tannins; clean finish with ripe green apple, very good resonance and length. Jura

A petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
