Palate similar. Ripe and intense, with somewhat heavy alcohol. Powerful wine. Quite well balanced, but the strong alcohol puts a damper on this one for me. Doesn't seem to bother most others though.
Full body, medium acidity and medium- tannins. (428 views) | | Tasted by marcp on 9/24/2023 & rated 89 points: Kirsch, bramble, black licorice. Full bodied, higher alcohol, moderate tannins and moderate acidity. Hedonistic. (518 views) | | Tasted by jour-et-nuit on 12/29/2022: Nice CdR villages. Price tag: 16€. But on that price level, I'm convinced that you get more wine elsewhere; e.g. Brechet's basic Gigondas. (907 views) | | Tasted by beatles on 9/30/2021 & rated 89 points: Powerful wine with alcohol showing. A core of kirsch here, concentrated Grenache. Manly stuff with some tannin; give it a couple of years. (1955 views) |
| Domaine de la Janasse Producer website | Producer page on Importer websiteRed Rhone Blend Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
