Tasted by jnewman77 on 3/12/2024: Delicious; similar to prior. (1541 views)
Tasted by IJC on 12/17/2023: It's good... very good... better than good.

Much closer to a Sec than a Moelleux, this Demi is well balanced (fruit and acidity), has a soft-punch of mineral, and lovely notes of chalk on the nose and stone/ limestone on the palate. The fruit is present in the exceedingly long aftertaste. Good stuff!

Eminently fine on its own, and a good partner with soft, double creme cheese as well as a savory onion tart.

Rated +2 on a scale of -1 to +3. (1807 views)
Tasted by chatters on 12/17/2023: Christmas lunch with the wine ark boys (Porcine, Oxford Street): Aromas of honey, lemon, a little citrus marmalade note and a touch of fresh herbs, pretty nose. Softly juicy at first, the residual sugar helps with this illusion, citrus, honey, a little textured burr, quite simple. Needs time to gain complexity (2235 views)
Tasted by kitkat4 on 10/7/2023 & rated 93 points: Vibrant, with nice acidity and a touch of sweetness. I think these demi-sec are just terrific. Apple, touch of orange, apricot - really nicely balanced. (1976 views)
Tasted by viniferatu on 6/14/2023: quince, pear, citrus, wet wool

gorgeous integration of sugar on the palate, fresh and sweet, a little honey, nice tart fruit to balance everything, drinking well now, should age well for many years (2706 views)
Tasted by trumpet60201 on 3/26/2023 & rated 91 points: 1st of 4. The nose shows peach, apricot, pineapple and banana candy notes. The palate has nice acidity and a fairly long finish. It's a hair too sweet for my palate at this stage, but I can see how with some age this might become marvelous. This got better as the night went on and the nose opened up more as it warmed up in the glass. (2772 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 2/17/2023 & rated 92 points: Light yellow. Peach on the nose. Balanced sweetness, rich, baked apples, peaches and pears. (2447 views)
Tasted by ralaspech on 2/6/2023 & rated 91 points: Similar to my prior notes. Seemed a touch sweeter and less vibrant than I remembered. Good match with pork tenderloin stuffed with apple, bacon and onions plus apple-bourbon gravy. 90+ (2262 views)
Tasted by ralaspech on 12/26/2022 & rated 91 points: Apple, pear, ginger and honey. Flinty minerality. A little sweet. Good acidity. (1960 views)
 Tasted by B&PBaker on 12/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Excellent (1695 views)
Tasted by corbettgabriel@gmail.com on 11/10/2022: Very youthful expression.
High acid.
Off dry (naturally) - balanced very well by the elevated acidity.
Intense aromas and highly complex.
Aromas:
Apricot, peach, nectarine, pineapple. All ripe and underripe.
Lanolin
Crushed rocks
Flint
Jasmine
Stone fruit blossoms. (1819 views)
Tasted by gagrapes on 10/16/2022 & rated 94 points: Minerality and acidity balance sweetness. Quite good - originally thought it was a Riesling. (1846 views)
Tasted by Umay Ceviker on 7/22/2022 & rated 92 points: 20 gr of residual sugar. Restrained on its nose showing hints of golden apple and floral undercurrents. Complex and rich with balancing acidity and vivid fruit. (1497 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 7/2/2022: Delicious though young; fresh and vibrant with orchard fruits, lemon preserves, minerality. Good depth and a long finish. (1849 views)
Tasted by Saxman1984 on 7/1/2022: I think this wine is much too young. Though delicious, the wine is primary with pear and apple aromas, as well as the palate. It reminds me of a German kabinett, though the acidity is not quite as high. If you can wait, I believe you would be justly rewarded. My guess is ten years. (1596 views)
Tasted by ThijsV on 6/16/2022 & rated 88 points: Loire trip 2022; 6/15/2022-6/19/2022 (Loire, France): [At Domaine Huet] This bottle was very closed, showing almost nothing on the nose. On the palate nice and elegant, not too sweet, but much, much too young. 19 g/l RS (2004 views)
Tasted by RodaParis on 5/5/2022 & rated 95 points: Highly recommend this wine. Enjoyed it immensely, perfect balance of acidity vs sweetness (1956 views)
Tasted by ralaspech on 4/17/2022 & rated 91 points: Similar to my prior note. Worked well with Easter dinner of ham, leg of lamb, Slovenian klobasy and sweet potato casserole (not an easy match!) (1570 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 1/31/2022 & rated 92 points: Delicious and complex for a youngster. Started out like a dessert wine, but then found some balance with more air and a little warming. typically great Huet "bones" which means it's going to be much better. (1901 views)
Tasted by IJC on 10/16/2021: My notes are lost, but I remember all that matters: Delicious.

Rated +1 on a scale of -1 top +3. (1939 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 10/7/2021 & rated 94 points: Very mineral. Complex, a touch of salinity, a whiff of shrimp paste strangely, peanut husk; full, great balance here, sugar balances very well the acidity here. Delicious. Great potential. (2061 views)
Tasted by ralaspech on 10/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Ripe apple with ginger and honey notes. Flinty minerality. Beautiful balance of sweetness and acidity. Terrific energy and integration of all elements. Lovely! (1539 views)
Tasted by maxmanx on 9/12/2021: Needed Decanting, so put the decanter into the refrigerator. I really enjoyed this. Complex. Only a hint of sweetness. This needs time! (1737 views)
Tasted by originalverkorkt on 8/18/2021 & rated 90 points: Le Haut-Lieu is the vineyard that is the origin of the Huet winery. The Huet family first visited the village of Vouvray in 1928 and was so taken with the property that now forms the winery, along with the five-hectare Le Haut-Lieu vineyard, that they purchased both and founded the Huet winery. Le Haut-Lieu is located on the plateau of Vouvray and is characterized by deep brown clay with a little flint and chalk in the topsoil. The topsoil is locally called aubuis. The bedrock consists of yellow tuffeau limestone lies four meters deep.

The harvest took place in 2020 between September 7 (the earliest date in the winery's history) and September 25. As the vintage was strongly characterized by sun and warmth, mainly residually sweet wines were produced. As usual, the grapes were meticulously sorted, pressed and fermented spontaneously. Malolactic fermentation took place only in exceptional cases and in individual barrels. The wine was aged in used demi-muids. Demi-Sec means at Huet: between 15 and 25 grams of residual sweetness. In this case it is 20 grams.

Le Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec an open, bright, fragrant and fresh wine with aromas reminiscent of white and yellow flowers, nashi pears, yellow apples and fresh apple cider. There are also notes of damp stone and herbs. Among the three sites, Le Haut-Lieu always seems a bit Muselan, and this vintage is no exception. Despite an anticipated abundance of flavors, there is nothing heavy or lush about the wine; instead, it comes across as prancing and light, yet at the same time it is full of character and seriousness.

The palate quickly reveals the wonderful balance of sweetness and acidity, and although the Chenin Blanc has 13.5% by volume, it also seems almost as light on its feet as a Kabinett. The Demi-Sec has yellow and white-fleshed round fruit that is juicy and creamy, supported by elegant and finely chiseled acidity and a fresh minerality. Tension and precision, intensity as well as density are evident here, and yet there still remains the aforementioned prancing lightness of foot with sweetness present at the same time. (1892 views)
Tasted by aero on 8/4/2021 & rated 91 points: Light++ bodied, traditional styling. Hard to get much from the nose, but seems to be heading towards tropical fruit skins, white flowers, touch of bread yeast. Really pleasurable palate but so tight today - needs a few years to reveal itself. The residual sugar is most apparent in the body of the finish, but hard pressed to say it's sweeter than the 'sec'. 91-92 (1537 views)
