Tasted by Colowine on 1/9/2024: A well-made oaky Cali chard. Very nice if you like the style. Not great if you don't. (234 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 7/5/2023: Takes oxidized too. (636 views)
Tasted by bradfriedlander on 2/15/2023 & rated 92 points: Great dinner wine! Paired well with pizza, oven fried chicken, and salad. (572 views)
Tasted by Odedis.Wine.reviews on 9/14/2022 & rated 88 points: This is a tasty oaky Chardonnay from Chalk Hill in Russian River Valley.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Showing oak, vanilla, lemons, apples, pears and light spices.

Spicy finish with almonds.

A good quality wine. Easy drinking, elegant and bold.

Still young and has good potential to be better in a few years.

A nice food wine, and good for parties, too.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged in (40% new) French Oak barrels for 11 months. Unfiltered.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

88 points.

$30. (1028 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 7/14/2022 & rated 91 points: Bright and full bodied, there's lots of freshness to notes of lemons, crunchy white and yellow fruit, and 'Nilla wafers. It gains and evolves, with pears, baking spices, and minerals emerging throughout. Really nice presence and structure. Good length on the sapid finish. (515 views)
Tasted by tomoem on 5/15/2022 & rated 88 points: This is a rather aromatic chardonnay with apple aromatics dominating over tropical fruit. Moves quickly in mouth to tropical fruit with a mid palette of dominating acidity, telling me that this wine has much room to improve and settle. Finishes with an acidity that gives way to a cedar wood mouthfeel. (1201 views)
Tasted by bbcc66 on 3/20/2022 & rated 89 points: Consistent tastes of apple, pear, tropical fruits with hints of grapefruit. Refreshing. 14.9% alc. (1105 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 2/1/2022 & rated 88 points: Excellent Chardonnay for only $19 US. Creamy, some butter but not excessive. Tropical notes and hint of grapefruit. (1169 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 1/10/2022 & rated 88 points: Wine Spectators #84 in the 2021 Top 100 so I decided to give it a try. Excellent Chardonnay for only $19 US. Creamy, some butter but not excessive. Tropical notes and hint of grapefruit. (1193 views)
Tasted by Ecoenophile on 12/25/2021 & rated 89 points: Very good QPR. Impressed by this entry-level offering by Chalk Hill. No detailed notes , served for a large dinner. Well liked by all. (991 views)
Tasted by curtex on 11/22/2021 & rated 87 points: Apple and pear notes, good acidity. Moderate oak. Good chardonnay for the price. Paired well with crab cakes. (720 views)
Tasted by swoop71 on 11/21/2021 & rated 91 points: Well balanced Chardonnay with vanilla/caramel flavors throughout. (612 views)
Tasted by Kellig on 11/17/2021 & rated 89 points: Too much oak tannin. Very full body and buttery. Dried Apricot. (473 views)
Tasted by wmccone54 on 7/1/2021 & rated 89 points: More than “decent”, somewhat restrained but balanced. Definitely has seen some oak as there are some slight butter notes, but the oak regimen was well managed. Like the fruit and freshness. Solid finish. (601 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
