Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.3 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 26 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by lake.vino on 1/5/2024: Nose has a certain cardboard note that makes little sense for a screwcap bottle. Some strawberry floral lily and strong saline minerality shows through. Perhaps the fruit has faded and this is just the strong mineral notes showing through. Still has some effervescence. Palate shows mineral galore, good acid and very little fruit. I’m not rating bc it is showing so oddly for what I know this to be. The underlying structure is superb. (435 views)
Tasted by JJKinch on 7/29/2023 & rated 91 points: Nice strawberry, slight herbal/ pepper which I like, floral, slight salinity. Good acidity. Bright. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable. (479 views)
Tasted by brucejones on 7/15/2023: Hints of green pepper which I do not like in a rose (556 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 7/9/2023 & rated 90 points: One of the best pool/summer wines out there. Light/crisp fruit with some herbaceous elements that makes it unique. Very consistent and love the slight fizz here. (768 views)
Tasted by El_Dougo on 7/6/2023 & rated 89 points: Very light bodied, cool crisp palate of strawberries! Fun summer quaff. (573 views)
Tasted by Elycohn on 7/1/2023 & rated 91 points: Txakoli rose' and that unmistakable spicy bite of strawberry jalapeno & cucumber.

Like a piece of sushi. Simple, plain, perfect. (477 views)
Tasted by kitkat4 on 6/25/2023 & rated 80 points: A bit to much green pepper for my tastes. (360 views)
Tasted by gmbdds on 5/19/2023 & rated 90 points: Bitter cherry, strawberry and a distinct jalapeño note. Crisp, green, mouthwatering and brightly acidic. (456 views)
Tasted by Eric Wright on 4/15/2023 & rated 93 points: Wonderful fruit and minerality (612 views)
Tasted by Dhunternm on 12/17/2022: with Tobi's Patatas Bravas (975 views)
Tasted by Eric on 12/1/2022: Brad & Russ at Harvest Vine: Mmm, what I love. Floral blast moving to a stunningly dry and mineral palate. Lighter spritz than usual but so vibrant and easy to drink. 11% (1336 views)
Tasted by oropeza on 10/16/2022: More vegetal that previous vintages. Same brightness and freshness. Another $1 more expensive as well... (1011 views)
Tasted by Enfant sauvage on 9/29/2022: Greener and less ripe than in previous vintages, but that almost makes me like it more. Tremendous stuff for the price. (799 views)
Tasted by rorothecat on 9/9/2022: Lots of chili pepper and a bit of strawberry. Slight effervescence. Really unique rosé. Really enjoyed it. (749 views)
Tasted by Lfholland on 8/27/2022: 100% agree about the jalapeño note mentioned in the last review. It’s not something that I would consider a fault though. Assuming it’s from pyrazines. Overall the wine is fresh and crisp. Almost like a strawberry jalapeño margarita.

The wine is definitely more smokey/savory than past vintages, but still a delicious summer wine. (656 views)
Tasted by MAXIMUM SATISFACTION on 8/14/2022 & rated 90 points: Definitely a nice spritz to it and very unique. Underripe green pepper/jalapeño note hits you first followed by strawberry and herbs. (912 views)
Tasted by boston617 on 7/9/2022 & rated 90 points: Fresh yet earthy. Hint of smoke and mushrooms (813 views)
Tasted by viniferatu on 7/2/2022: More vegetal and herbal than I can ever remember from this wine, the Beltza is really coming through. Aromas of eggplant and jalapeno, tomato leaf, petrichor, grapefruit, a little red fruit too... gorgeous on the palate, lots of citrus, red fruit, green melon, subtle spritz, intense salinity and minerality. Drink it up! (778 views)
Tasted by Eric Wright on 5/20/2022 & rated 93 points: Salinity. Minerality. Relatively dry. Strawberry. Perfect summer wine (1035 views)
Tasted by Eric Wright on 5/5/2022 & rated 92 points: Very refreshing. Very light. Strawberries and cream. Moderate acidity. Salinity. Mouthwatering. Exactly what I want to be drinking sitting on the roof with friends in the summer. (715 views)

Spain

Vinos de España - Wines of Spain (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior) | Wikipedia
Wine Map on weinlagen-info

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net

Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.
