| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.9 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by jfpwine on 12/30/2023 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Very light straw color. Very floral on the nose, especially white flowers, but also notes of orange peel as well. Sharp and defined on the palate, with great acidity with an overall mineral and chalky presence. Long finish. This drinks very well, but it is a food wine in my opinion. (471 views) | | Tasted by MAC49 on 11/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Really enjoyable wine that is in a great place. Nice acidity balanced by good fruits. Drank with Thai takeout and it was a perfect match. (401 views) | | Tasted by chicsucre on 10/14/2023: Pale beige with noticeable green Grapefruit, yellow peaches, apricot and melon Palate matches the nose, and a bit tingly Fresh acidity, but with a bit of ripe apricot fruit Pretty magical

| Ca' Marcanda (Gaja)Can you visit? Never have appointments been quite so exclusive as at this famed Barbaresco winery, founded in 1859 and now run by the fifth generation of the Gaja family. The gates were opened up to the public in 2014 but you'll only enter into these romantic courtyards after a sizeable donation to charity.
Founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja, this prestigious wine estate has been handed down through five generations of the Gaja family. Fourth generation Angelo Gaja is the estate’s current owner. Gaja has 110 ha of vineyard holdings in Tuscany (Montalcino, Castagneto and Bolgheri) and Piedmont (Barbaresco and Barolo). Acquired in 1994 by the Gaja family, Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta is an estate in Brunello di Montalcino. The name refers to the Pieve or Parish Church of Saint Restituta located on the property. The 17.6 ha vineyard is located in the south-west subzone of the appellation on white, rocky soils, which over the years has proven to produce some of the region’s finest wines. A second vineyard of 11 ha was bought on the north-eastern sub-zone in 2006. Pieve Santa Restituta produces a classic, blended Brunello di Montalcino and two vineyard-designated wines, Brunello di Montalcino Sugarille and Brunello di Montalcino Rennina.
