Tasted by Mossrose on 10/3/2017 & rated 90 points: This 13 year old wine has aged reasonably well. Near opaque, with inviting aromas of blackberry, black currant, and plum. Very smooth mouth entry with upfront fruit, plus a slight astringent tannin and a hint of bitterness that keep the texture of being plush or caressing. The swallow highlights a bright acidity that is refreshing. Overall, a little too rustic, not particularly rich, and not in the top wines from Rasteau, but still enjoyable. (103 views)
Tasted by wtianseter on 7/4/2013 & rated 88 points: This wine was a pleasant surprise to me -- a quite nice light to medium body wine with nice fruit flavors leading with a dry Maraschino cherry. The color was a slightly oxidized plum red. The nose was dusty dried rose. The flavors pretty much all presented together; there was also mixed red fruits that were somewhat earthy on flavor. The finish was a pleasant dry showing smooth light tannins. We had this with 4th of July hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, and potato chips; it went quite nicely with everything, and especially well with salty dill pickle flavored chips. I would love to have some more bottles of this around, but alas this was my only bottle (purchased in 08). (1900 views)

Tasted by THaas on 4/25/2009 & rated 89 points: Inviting nose of spicy raspberry and some barnyard. Abundant flavors of cherry, strawberry, some vanilla, some truffle, spice on the finish, and lingering, cedary tannins. Tasty. Slightly acidic, but decent balance. Long finish.

Tasted by MyCrush on 3/31/2009 & rated 88 points: A good value wine at 18.00. (3755 views)
(2453 views)
Tasted by themostrighteous on 1/28/2009: earthy aroma, raspberry & blackberry mouth, moderate acidity, sweet thick tannins (but not overbearing), lingering finish. (3025 views)
Tasted by whynblog on 1/24/2009 & rated 90 points: The nose has plenty of raspberry and wildberry fruit with a touch of earthiness. Across the palate lots of dark berry flavors, vanilla, tobacco and a good dose of minerality. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. (2396 views)
Tasted by mellie on 12/28/2008 & rated 84 points: Slight tinges of brown color. Smells of earth and blackberries. Mineraly, well--balanced tannin, bit of spice. Good wine to serve friends for nice dinner. (2378 views)
Tasted by jdkru on 11/23/2008 & rated 89 points: Feed the craving for the dirt (2175 views)
Tasted by JoshA on 10/29/2008 & rated 85 points: For some reason, this bottle tasted thinner than the previous but still had some of the same flavor characteristics. (2194 views)
Tasted by JoshA on 9/23/2008 & rated 89 points: Deep purple color. Nose of ripe blueberry and raspberry with intensity that carries through to the palate. Underneath is a structure of smooth, fine tannins and a taste of tobacco. Delicious. (2206 views)
Tasted by vivaitalia on 4/2/2008 & rated 90 points: A stellar nose of blackberry, blueberry, vanilla, kirsch, pain grille and alot of iron. An explosion of pure dark berries on the palate with beautiful tannins that make the flavors just glide across your mouth. I love the fact that all this fruit finishes with tons of mineral and earth bringing this wine to a nice balance. Fans of CDP will love this blend of 50% grenache 35% syrah and 15% mouvedre which seems to shine above all. (2552 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 2/16/2008 & rated 87 points: Very fine - first rasteau I've had. Good balance. Spice and berries. (2592 views)
Tasted by vaaccess on 12/30/2007 & rated 85 points: I'll give this wine a Very Good rating. It is definitely an old world wine and it is good. There is a pasty after taste that is undesirable that keeps me from rating it higher, but it doesn't detract from the wine too much. (2741 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
