Tasted by subir on 5/12/2014 & rated 90 points: Bright, clear gold color in the glass. Star fruit and lemon peel on the nose. Lots of butter on the nose and the palate, but that was well balanced with fresh acidity. I like this a lot more now than I did three years ago, the aggressive oak has mellowed somewhat. It can clearly keep going for many more years. (1526 views)
Tasted by mamacol on 2/25/2012 & rated 90 points: Well balanced with muted citrus a good accompaniment to whitefish with spinach filling. (2415 views)
Tasted by ssterioff on 10/18/2011: OFF ! (2500 views)
Tasted by jsherdc on 9/19/2010 & rated 89 points: Solid. Not overly oaked. (2842 views)
Tasted by Three-Star Dave on 11/27/2009 & rated 90 points: Pleasant, balanced, a little touch sweet, perfect with turkey. (3254 views)
Tasted by phornby on 9/25/2009 & rated 87 points: Well-enough made, but I'm not a great fan of vanilla and butter in Chardonnay. Good food wine, I suspect, but not a refreshing summer evening drink. (2224 views)
Tasted by xwine on 4/16/2009: Might not have been a good idea opening this two days after a Grand Cru White Burgundy tasting. Nose is pretty good, with quince (?) and notes of lemon. Seems somewhat ponderous on the palate, with rich tropical fruit (mango comes to mind), and palate coating texture. The acidity is adequate, but certainly doesn't make for a refreshing drink. Not a wine I could drink a lot of. Good for what it is, but not my style. (1867 views)
Tasted by charliesea on 3/15/2009 & rated 86 points: Bright gold color, with a cardboardy nose. the Palate was rather vegetative with asparagus and hay. Paired with some lively Thai food, the chardonnay character shone through with pears and citrus. Being warmer than optimum wasn't charitable to the wine. (1892 views)
Tasted by Tejano on 2/12/2009: Very light gold color with firm notes of citrus on the nose and a some green apple on the backside with just a hint of minerals. Clean and crisp fruit on the palate with a medium grip at mid palate and a rather soft finish. Good foil to a rich brie and ham omelette... (1891 views)
Tasted by winekitchen on 11/28/2008 & rated 80 points: Definitely not Tablas Creek's forte. Heavy and a little funky. (2056 views)
Tasted by liberati on 11/13/2008: Not a typical big oak California chardonnay - the most unusual aspect was the anise on the very persistent finish. Perfect with mussels that had been steamed with fennel, tarragon and dill. (2120 views)
Tasted by rmodak on 10/8/2008 & rated 88 points: Pears, lemon with a chalky texture that truly tastes similar to their Roussanne when young. Perfectly enjoyable. (2018 views)
Tasted by VoteferPedro on 6/14/2008 & rated 88 points: little aroma, lean, compressed Chardonnay flavor. It is all there, but too tight to be considered great. Perhaps too young, since there was no movement by day2. (2134 views)
Tasted by pakabear on 4/17/2008 & rated 91 points: Great nose of lemon and orange peal. Balanced palate with mostly citrus components. (2375 views)
Tasted by VegasTony on 4/11/2008 & rated 86 points: Tastes a bit too wooden. The noticeable alcohol detracts and makes the wine seem spirity. Nice otherwise. Not a good value. (2272 views)
Tasted by green-steve on 4/6/2008 & rated 88 points: Nice clear yellow in the glass. Beautiful nose of citrus, apple with the same on the palate. Refreshing acidity, medium-long finish. Great wine. (2326 views)
Tasted by DenisLee on 3/24/2008: Very nice. (2371 views)

Tablas Creek

Producer website
Tablas Creek Vineyard, founded by the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel and Robert Haas of Vineyard Brands, is dedicated to growing grape varieties traditional to France's Rhone Valley. The partners chose hilly western Paso Robles for its limestone soils, rugged terrain, and ocean influence. All Tablas Creek wines are estate grown using environmentally sustainable practices.

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
