Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 3 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Dan Hausrath on 4/25/2024 & rated 92 points: Pale salmon color in the glass with rich nose of raspberry and apricot. Fresh acidity, medium-full body, and very faint velvety tannin on the palate. Fairly concentrated flavors of white peach, strawberry, and lemon with a reasonably long finish. Really nicely made - you could have fooled me if you said it was from Provence. (47 views)
Tasted by bavaur on 10/29/2023 & rated 89 points: Bright strawberry and watermelon. Bit of weight made it stumble against a spicy salmon pasta but a very refreshing rose that will be lovely in the summer. (296 views)

Unti Vineyards

Producer website

Unti Vineyards is a small, no-frills, family-owned and operated winery specializing in red varietal wines with vineyard personality. George and his son Mick believe Dry Creek Valley's climate is ideal for making full-bodied, fruity reds from Zinfandel, Rhone and Italian varietals. In 2004 the Untis began using biodynamic vineyard practices designed to make the vines more self-sustaining and adaptive to their natural environment. The winery, established in 1997, produces small lots of estate grown Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, Barbera, Sangiovese, Petite Sirah and a Dry Rose. The winemaking includes artisan methods which enhance and support an ability to make wines with a sense of place. Almost all of the wines, and opinions, are unfiltered.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
