Tasted by PieterSomm on 1/5/2021 & rated 88 points: So i was a bit sceptical about the wine but it was still in very good condition.
Ruby red to brick with a brown translucent rim ,
On the nose the wine was quite herbal, prune, cooked sweet fruit and some ceder note's
In taste it tasted a lot like bramble, and back fruit's. The wine was balanced , quite vibrant and still alive, not a load of complexity but still very tasty (459 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 2/28/2014: juicy and lovely. i would like to think i could pick this out as a zin but not so sure really. those who only glanced the label from afar or distain wearing bifocals were most pleased to be slurping down a 17 year old mondavi cab - ie totally fooled. Nice one Duane. (2424 views)
Tasted by rjeman2000 on 12/27/2010 & rated 89 points: Trying to drink up my older bottles. Very happy with how this one aged, and surprised a mid-price 13 yr old zin held up for this long. Still good structure, decent flavors. All in all hats off to mr mondavi. (3202 views)
Tasted by rjeman2000 on 3/19/2010 & rated 92 points: A 92 may seem ridiculous, but I am shocked by how this is drinking right now. Grabbed this bottle from the cellar thinking it was an over-the-hill throwaway--didn't even have anyone over to drink it with. Popped and poured through Vinituri. Huge nose of dark, rich fruits with hints of aged cedarbox. On the palate is rich, lucious dark fruits, black cherry, ripe plum, and even some Dr Pepper. There are just enough tannins on the finish to give it structure. It was like biting into a perfectly ripe peach in the middle of summer. Have one bottle left, and while I can't believe it will be as perfect as this one, I'll be sure to have someone over next time. (3349 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 1/2/2004 & rated 88 points: nice zin not too old at all. (2390 views)
Tasted by twoamps on 4/19/2003 & rated 87 points: ok but nothing exciting (2062 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
