STEWARDS OF THE SOIL
Today, Mumm Napa works with more than fifty growers at each harvest. The variety in our grape sources allows us to make consistent sparkling wine every year. But more than simply the variety, it’s the quality of the fruit the farmers bring to Mumm Napa – a quality that stems from the passion they have for their work.

Many of Mumm Napa growers are multi-generational Napa Valley farmers with a deep-rooted connection to the land.

“At Mumm Napa, we like to work with people who are as passionate about farming as we are about making wine. Heritage is everything to our Growers.”
– Ludovic Dervin.

“This year, 2014, will be my family’s 111th harvest in Napa Valley. No one truly owns the land; we are all just stewards of the soil.”
– Andy Hoxsey, Napa Valley Grower

“Mumm Napa makes a great product that really represents our hard work in the vineyards. It is important to pick the right winery partner to ensure that our great quality fruit is being made into a great quality wine.”
– Gianciarlo Bettinelli, Napa Valley Grower

“We have been grape growing for Mumm Napa for over fifteen years. They appreciate our long-term commitment to the land, and we appreciate their long-term commitment to making quality wine.”
– Julie Nord, Napa Valley Grower

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
