Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 92.5 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 12 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by portman63 on 6/9/2021 & rated 92 points: Hit all of the Meursault points. It was rich and buttery with some baked apples other maturity indicators showing at this point, but plenty of fresh acidity to keep it enjoyable paired with roasted chicken. Not overly mature for the 15 years, but enough that the oak treatment was integrated, but some ambering in the center. A good example of this vineyard though. (637 views)
Tasted by swyang on 3/22/2018: Wow, that was a spectacular showing. The type of moments when you look at the bottle and wish you had many more left!...
Color is starting to be deep gold. On the nose the aromas are simply waves of honey/citrus, flowers and flowers, nice toast/clove/mineral all in perfect chord. On the palate it coats all corners with rich oily texture(for a burgundy) which unmistakably shows off its origin from Meursault, but after this initial coating, the multiple explosion of flavors occur in the mid palate as well as rear palate. Wow... stunning indeed as the mineral element is releasing a nucleus power of citrus, honey, saline, spice and all reverberating on a large scale and yet keeping it all lithe. Generous, yet refined at same time elegant and poised. Yummy, indeed yummy and wishing I had purchased by the case. Cheers, (1439 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 2/20/2016 & rated 91 points: Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 2/19/2016-2/20/2016 (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): I like this but was slightly confused. Started very ripe almost quasi-tropical, so very 2006. Lots of acid on finish, which I like, but this didn't come across as perfectly harmonious and integrated. Excellent material, but it didn't all come together for me. Perhaps this was hurt by being served at above cellar temperature. (2496 views)
Tasted by swyang on 4/10/2014 & rated 94 points: Outstanding wine. Certainly round and rich but a beautiful and fresh acidity keeps all together tightly. Lots of citrus, honey wax, vanilla, if anything a tad much wood, but one hope this will integrate with time. It is definitely going to last for a long time still, but already ready to be enjoyed, if you have many bottles. I had kept a bit for about three hours in the glass and the quality did not budge a bit towards the end of the evening... outstanding indeed. (2324 views)
Tasted by sdchevs on 2/8/2014 & rated 90 points: Complex vanilla, mineral, stone fruit nose; rich Chardonnay flavor; tight, good acids still; rich finish. w/seared scallop, lemon risotto, beurre noisette (2206 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 6/21/2013 & rated 88 points: 8 months ago I loved this wine. Tonight the oak was hanging out pretty big and it seemed to lack focus. I decanted which seemed to help but I couldn't help feeling very disapointed with this one compared to the last. Seemed less vibrant and less balanced. Don't know if just needs a lot more time or if its starting to fall apart? Last btl. Oh well. (2527 views)
Tasted by sdchevs on 2/9/2013 & rated 91 points: lemony, citrus, nutmeg and oak nose; mid-body, mid-viscosity; opens with air; good acids; long fruity finish, semi-fat. (1691 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 10/27/2012 & rated 95 points: This is world class white Burg! Medium light gold color. Fresh floral nose with stonny hints. In great shape and drinking very well. Dense, intense and minerally with orange peel, apple, and spice flavors. Big, bold and yet reasonably light on it's feet. Class, depth and length. Drink or hold but I love it right now! (1837 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
