Obviously, this is a "vin de garde." I have three more, and it is still not on its last legs. The alcohol is a bit strong, agreed, but as the tannins recede it has a deep, dark, fruit, with secondary notes and a long finish. Nez sur les fruits noirs, l'alcool ressort, garrigue un peu, prunes. Bouche très dense, épaisse, un peu alcooleux, beau fruit. Intéressant, à revoir dans 5-7 ans au moins. À environ 40$ de la bouteille de 750 ml pour un vin d'appellation Côtes-du-Rhône "générique", il faut déjà avoir l'esprit ouvert. On s'attendrait donc à ce que le producteur investisse des efforts considérables pour nous procurer un vin de bonne qualité. Or, la qualité n'y est pas. Bien sûr, on a droit à un vin costaud, avec des notes très nettes de poivre, de fruits noirs très mûrs (cassis et bleuet). Bien sûr, on a un vin hyper concentré et tannique. Mais la qualité n'y est pas. On s'attendrait à une belle Syrah qui nous offre une belle complexité, un certain velour dans les tanins, etc. mais il n'en est rien. C'est un vin français qui se prend pour une Shiraz australienne. En plus, il tire 14,5% d'alcool et il brûle la langue et dérange les cils olfactifs. Grosse déception. Un 40$ très mal dépensé.
