Tasted by stayhappy21 on 3/11/2015 & rated 86 points: Drank this with a close colleague over dinner at Rokeby and Wimbly Lu Chocolates tonight.

Colour is dark yellow turning light brown. Notes of fresh apple juice on the nose, with a touch of pears and raisins.

On the palate this wine carries some weight with restrained sugar giving a refreshing sensation on the palate.

Nice wine with balanced sweetness. (2010 views)
Tasted by stayhappy21 on 12/13/2014 & rated 86 points: Drank a bottle last night with friends over some simple dishes at home.

Yellow in colour, with a rich and fragrant nose. On the palate there are notes of pear and peach. The sweetness level is moderate and the sugar level is subdued. (1995 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 11/24/2012 & rated 86 points: 4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Mike & Cyndi's): Light color. Aromas of minerals, orange blossom honey, and tropical fruit. Flavors of apricot and peach, with a bit of a tinny, metallic note on the finish. (3694 views)
Tasted by Christoffer78 on 12/31/2011 & rated 89 points: Actually a 'fun' and rather interesting wine made from 100 percent Botrytised Roussanne... The nose displays a vivid array of melted beeswax or honey combined with subtle tones of lychée, tangerine and peach. The palate is full and lush with a finish lasting some 40 seconds. Overall impression is very positive, this is a fun and very nice effort. Age seems to do this effort justice. It is far more complex tonight compared to a couple of years ago. (3370 views)
Tasted by dizzydev on 10/9/2011 & rated 87 points: Slightly acidic and not very well balanced. With the right sweetness around it - paired with dessert, for example - not too bad. (3371 views)
Tasted by DrewM on 9/15/2011 & rated 90 points: Really balanced dessert wine. Color is an inviting gold, somewhat resembling urine with a specific gravity of 1.020 (for you MDs playing at home). Palate is a honey-apricot with come nice acidity. Well done Mr Grahm. (2131 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 10/3/2010 & rated 81 points: Medium orange color; apricot, honeyed nose; weird, tart apricot, apple, confectioner's sugar, chemical palate; medium finish (1287 views)
Tasted by amateurwino on 2/26/2010 & rated 86 points: A competent dessert wine (2174 views)
Tasted by gdykema on 11/23/2008 & rated 86 points: Heavy grape juice at first transitioning to sweet melon on the mid-palate and a surprisingly dry finish. Ali says she could drink it. Tasted at the winery. (1881 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 9/5/2008 & rated 92 points: Sweet but deftly balanced with supple acidity and notes of brown sugar and lychee fruit that linger on the long finish. (1923 views)

(Le Vol Des Anges) COLOR-medium amber/golden; NOSE-tons of honey; smoked apricots; a little peach fuzz; TASTE-I like this -- it's not too sticky; solid balance; a lot of pears & quince on the back-end; there's a sauterne-like feel for me; GV-??

Bonny Doon Vineyard

Producer website

Bonny Doon was sold in early 2020 to "WarRoom", a wine production and marketing entity formed in 2018. Per a January 2020 Decanter article - https://www.decanter.com/wine-news/californias-bonny-doon-sold-430550/ - "Graham will retain creative control of Bonny Doon’s wines, but production will change from 35,000 cases of 15 different wines annually to just four wines: the flagship red Rhône blend Le Cigare Volant; Le Cigare Blanc (based on Vermentino); Vin Gris de Cigare (a Rhône varietal rosé); and a 100% Picpoul."

Wikipedia | Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
