Tasted by mogurakun on 1/4/2020 & rated 90 points: Fully expecting this wine to be past its due date, we were very pleasantly surprised. The wonderful acidity and minerality we tasted many years ago were very much in evidence. After an hour or so, the fruit even made an appearance, though this fruit tasted a little cooked. Lovely wine but past its prime. (1887 views)
Tasted by invein on 6/9/2018 flawed bottle: corked :( (2533 views)
Tasted by acheng on 10/1/2017 & rated 91 points: My last bottle and a wonderful bookend to this vintage drinking experience. Drank with thanksgiving turkey. The fruit is long a memory of the past. A touch of oxidation has set in. Grilled nuts, lemon peel and hazelnut. (2618 views)
Tasted by olracx62 on 3/25/2017 & rated 90 points: first taste with Coravin. I was aware that 2003 was a very hot summer and wines had a shorter life but I was expecting this CCh was still in its best drinking window. Not true. Wonderful hints of butter, hazelnuts and vanilla, elegant and seductive, but no acidity left at all, no crisp notes, somehow flat. All disappeared. Late for the sky. 90 for its past glory

Second taste the day following : almost oxidized, butter and hazelnuts over all NR (2888 views)
Tasted by acheng on 3/4/2017 & rated 90 points: This wine is showing its age. Definitely into the tertiary spectrum. The refreshing verve and citrus of yesteryears is just a faded memory now. The 2004 I had last year on the other hand can definitely go the distance. (2976 views)
Tasted by Machiavelli on 12/25/2016: Mature, balanced, long finish. Quite good. (1723 views)
Tasted by swyang on 3/7/2015 & rated 93 points: Wow, this is yet another surprise and a good one. After having had a tired nearly dead CCh 2003 not long ago, my expectation for this bottle had been rather low... but from the opening it had so much life, so complex, deep and penetrating as well. Buttery but not heavy, nutty but nuanced, grapefruity but uplifting. That bottle kept getting better and better and as the temperature went up, honey and pear appeared with a hint of coconut... Yumm that was a wonderful bottle! (2768 views)
Tasted by Machiavelli on 7/24/2014: Send-off to Ottawa dinner. Really enjoyable but flabby, the acidity is just not there. (2892 views)
Tasted by Charlie Carnes on 5/14/2014 & rated 93 points: This was a surprise in that I was expecting ripe, buttery, apply etc. Hell, I had to double check the bottle, as it was drinking like a really nice cool year Chablis. Seriously, it was dry and lean with white fruit and bone meal perceptions. It was quite delicious and I liked it a ton. Great at the dinner table. (3084 views)
Tasted by acheng on 11/8/2013 & rated 91 points: Buttery, full, green apple and citrusy. Lively and adding more weight as it sits in the glass. Drinking well tonight but should improve even more with a couple more years. (3189 views)
Tasted by MBannon on 6/10/2013 & rated 94 points: Beautiful wine. Excellent pale gold color, somewhat restrained nose. Flavors of honey and white flower petals with a bit of minerals in the background. Great balance, perfect acidity. Wonderful stuff, wish I had more. (3600 views)
Tasted by swyang on 9/1/2012 & rated 92 points: well, it had been a few years since my last bottle so I had to try this baby. Upon opening, beautiful yellow/gold color and generous nose of citrus, honey and waves of while flowers singing behind as a chorus. The presence is fat and big; it is well a Corton Charlie 2003 after all and carrying its weight quite well! At same time profound and yet not heavy, honey sweet but with enough back acidity there to remind us that we are in Bourgogne's cote de Beaune and not in California. And a hint of saline/iodine character even when the temperature of in the glass had gone up. A beautiful wine finally starting to wake up from its hibernation and at this stage it is yawning yet... but promises that it will deliver. (3230 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/10/2012 & rated 92 points: Dinner with wine+art (Kiki's Bistro, Chicago): Pale color. Lemon oil, mineral and florals; bright. Balanced, nice weight across the palate; citrus, stone and mineral tones with good underlying acidity. Finishes well. 92-93 pts. (3618 views)
Tasted by lepetitchateau on 11/9/2011 & rated 84 points: Nose issues of surmaturite but nice on the palate with lots of material but sadly that fruit tastes roasted. (3149 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 10/14/2011 & rated 90 points: Seemed young (no early oxi-d), apple in the nose with hints of oak and churned butter. Flavors seemed leanish, green apple, Moroccan spice. Still hardly worth the wait in the cellar. (2930 views)
Tasted by cdunn on 10/13/2011 & rated 92 points: Decanted for an hour. Rather muted nose at first, but after a half hour in the glass, became very fragrant with white flowers, citrus and slate. On the palate, medium bodied, rich core but delineated structure. Again, after another 30 minutes or so, the flavors were very pronounced, mainly those of gardenias and mild tropical fruit, with an edge of lemon or grapefruit. Good depth and persistent but mild finish. This exceeded my expectation for an '03 Corton Charlie. (2886 views)
Tasted by Goldans on 3/12/2011 & rated 92 points: Excellent bottle for a very elegant wine. Looks medium gold colored with good legs. Smells like grapefruit and light toast. Medium body with silky texture. Very nice finish with average length. A real delight tasted with wonferful baked sea scallops followed by poached codfish ... Will drink my next bottle soon as it seems to be the perfect timing. (2887 views)
Tasted by Goldans on 3/4/2011 & rated 94 points: Yellow gold colored with slow legs. Smells like grapefruit and passion fruit with a hint of vanilla. Smooth texture with a medium finish. A wonderful bottle at the top of his game. (3009 views)
Tasted by Seth Rosenberg on 11/9/2010 & rated 75 points: Executive Wine Seminar's: Coche-Dury vs. The Challengers: Tasted blind in a flight w the 2003 Coche-Dury Corton Charlemagne. Green nose, a little steely and floral. Nasty on the palate - floppy and lots of vibration, really bad mouthfeel - over ripe with no focus. Very soft. Just horrible. The Coche was better, but what a condemnation of the 2003 white burgundy vintage these two wines were. Nose: 3/6, Palate: 2/6, Finish: 2/6, Je ne sais quoi (wild card): 0/2 = 7/20 = 75/100. My guess: Bouchard. My #2 of 2 for flight. No group rating noted. (4203 views)
Tasted by cdunn on 1/3/2010 & rated 90 points: This was being passed around on NYE dinner, so I didn't get really give it that much attention, but it didn't stand out. It was well-balanced, with moderate mirnerality, but not particularly lively nor flavorful. I wish I had decanted it an hour earlier. (3115 views)
Tasted by WST on 6/13/2009 & rated 90 points: My worst guess of the night. I'm not even going to write what I thought this was. I would never expect this much acidity in a scorcher year like '03. They're not allowed to add it, but it makes you wonder.
Green apple and citrus, great minerals, nice finish. (3375 views)
Tasted by Chaz Bham on 6/13/2009 & rated 90 points: Rather shy nose hints at white flowers, orange blossoms and toasted oak. Very rich, dense and chewy, but perfumed and penetrating. Surprising acidity for such a hot year, but certainly rounder than the 2002. (1469 views)
Tasted by CHTH on 1/4/2009 & rated 91 points: Very closed. If you open this bottled before 2010-2012 then just remember to let it stay open at least 2-3 hours. Rich and fat in the texture but with a good amount of acidety in the back. When it opens it reveals minerals, butterscotch, sweetnes. The wine is in perfect balance and i will keep me other bottle untill 2015 - 2018. (3438 views)
Tasted by swyang on 12/16/2008 & rated 93 points: Only 93 for now, as this wine is at a transitional phase. Still one can sense the tremendous future ahead.
So much material underlying one must drink to believe. Honey, white flower, nutty, grapefruity, appley, oily, big mineral. You name it there is a hint of it.
I will retry this baby in about 3 to 4 years time. (3478 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 11/26/2008 & rated 92 points: "Low-key" Pre-Thanksgiving Wine Dinner (The Plumed Horse Restaurant, Saratoga, California): From magnum - Light canary yellow color; nice mix of citrus, white flower and vanilla oak nose; ripe lemon, lemon oil and vanilla palate with poise; medium finish 92+ pts. Burgundy-Report (3/1/2005)
(Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Charlemagne) Bottled in January, 2-3 months after the other whites. The vines are at the fop of the hill and north-east facing, Philippe believes that this cooler spot helped to preserve acidity this year. Lovely nose, hints of green, cream covered apricots. Instantly classic palate with tons of complexity - really good mouthfeel. The finish is a strong one, fading only slowly. A very good wine that speaks more of Corton-Charlemagne than of 2003 - excellent.

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
