| Community Tasting Notes | | Tasted by xwine on 6/24/2009: Consistent with previous bottles, but the bright red fruit quickly drops off on the palate, leaving drying tannins on the finish. (1122 views) | | Tasted by xwine on 3/31/2009: Very tasty in a sort of overtly fruity bubblegum way. Distinctly grenache, comes across like a nice, simple CdR. Good value. (1138 views) | | Tasted by xwine on 2/28/2009: Nice wine, in a lighter, simpler, sort of bubble-gum style (for lack of a better way of putting it). Didn't show quite as well as the last bottle, but still good and a decent value. (1126 views) | | Tasted by xwine on 1/25/2009: Medium ruby. Nose actually smells like grenache, and is nicely followed up on the palate. A very nice example of what California grenache can and should be. Clean, spicy, red fruit, nice juicy acidity. It comes across like a very good southern CdR. After trying this I went out and bought six more. (1121 views) |
| Holly's Hill Producer websiteUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sierra FoothillsAmadorEl DoradoFair play |
