Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 11/6/2022 & rated 86 points: Very dark ruby with blackberry, black olive which follows through on the full bodied palate. Lots of blackberry, black and red cherry, a little heat from the alcohol (15%). Decent but nothing too complex. (117 views)
Tasted by theonlylittledog on 8/7/2014 & rated 90 points: Fresh tasting. Liquorice and spice over dark fruit (1333 views)
Tasted by theonlylittledog on 7/31/2014 & rated 91 points: Fantastic. Touch of acidity give a fresh taste. Still, maturing now. Time to drink but no hurry. Nice. (1328 views)
Tasted by mmh on 4/16/2014 & rated 91 points: I just love this wine! It is approaching its peak, but has many years of life left in it. Wide open with loads of garrigue and licourice on the nose, but the fruit is evolving from bright red to something a bit darker and more mature. The minerals are still there, and the balance is great. I will try to save my last bottle of the 2007 for another year or two. (1489 views)
Tasted by TheWineMonkey on 9/5/2012 & rated 89 points: On the nose sandal wood, game, plum, cherry and spice. There is noticeable alcohol. On the palate there are sweet fruits, kirsch and pepper. Medium to low acidity with softening tannins. Slightly better on second night. Can't be far from peaking? (1989 views)
Tasted by TheWineMonkey on 10/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Still could benefit with a little more time in the cellar, but was really drinking well on the second day after opening. On the nose both dark and red fruits, spice and garrigue. On the palate plenty of rich fruits. Still some tannins but these seem to soften quickly. Full bodied, yet the 15% alcohol is not too intrusive. A good winters wine which, once aired, I could quite happily drink on its own. (2120 views)
Tasted by mmh on 7/24/2011 & rated 91 points: Drinking very nicely at the moment, but will most likely reward further patience. Minerals, licqourice and red fruit in a very elegant and refreshing package. Serve at 14-15 C. (1447 views)
Tasted by TheWineMonkey on 5/23/2011 & rated 90 points: Drunk over three nights. The colour is a medium deep purple. On the nose there are rich aromas of dark fruit, tar, chocolate and a hint of blueberry. The wines 15% alcohol is only faintly noticeable.
On the palate things are pretty closed to begin with. Sweet dark fruits, tar and garrigue masked by medium levels of tannins. The wine has medium to low acidity. By the third night the tannins have softened nicely with the flavours finally breaking fully thru. I would keep for a year or two. Can be drunk now but I would leave a couple of hours in the decanter. (1190 views)
Tasted by mmh on 3/27/2011 & rated 90 points: Great stuff! Has evolved nicely sincve last spring and is now drinking beautifully. Minerally and refreshing. Very enjoyable! (1457 views)
Tasted by mmh on 4/25/2010 & rated 90 points: Extremely good for the price. A bit closed at first but opened up considerably after a couple of hours. Will most likely improve with time. Quite complex nose with smoke, meat and dark fruits. Good on the palate too, but a bit too young. (1375 views)
Tasted by jlm on 5/30/2009: Meaty, dark-fruited nose. Fairly weighty for a CdR, with lots of fruit concentration and a solid grip of dusty tannins. This is an honest, rustic wine that will surely repay several years of cellaring. For current drinking, I prefer the relative lightness of the Rasteau. (1540 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
