Overall it's about what you would expect. A slightly off, barely perceptible nose. The typical Cabernet flavors are there, but without much beauty or length. Slightly drying tannins (still). Drinkable, but that's about it. Will get neither better not worse over next couple of years. (2376 views) | | Tasted by Sasquach on 4/13/2012 & rated 88 points: A very satisfying drink. It was smooth fairly heavy on the Tamins. Definitely tasted the black cherry black raspberry jam, flavor. Overall very enjoyable. (5415 views) | | Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 11/20/2011 & rated 88 points: This is an exceptional value. In fact, this may be the best wine at this price point I have had this year. If you closed your eyes and swallowed, you might think this wine was from France. Very dark in color. Rich and complete on the nose with deep dark cherry, refined oak, maybe some graphite. Because of the Bordeaux blend, there is a complexity from the front to the back. Strong mid palate. Lots of blackberry fruit. Silky tannins. Balanced. Maybe a touch too much oak. Dry black cherry finish. (6157 views) | | Tasted by Briangray77 on 1/29/2011 & rated 88 points: Dark red in color. Red fruit and a little earthiness on the nose with slight hints of oak and licorice. On the palate there was more red fruits like cherry and strawberry and a chocolate alcohol flavor on the finish. The mouth feel was a bit thin and the tannins were not as prominent as they I like them. Over all this was a solid bottle of wine for 10.00. (6901 views) | | Tasted by JR_Boston on 8/11/2010 & rated 85 points: Drank w/ meats and cheeses. Dark garnet. A bit washed out. Some spice. Very fruity with cherry and plum. Long finish but nor very complex. (7655 views) | | Tasted by teamhams on 7/28/2010 & rated 85 points: Floral notes with hints of pepper. Big on the nose, lesser so in mouth. Lighter than it should be for a blend and less complex than I would like. (3864 views) | | Tasted by RDaneel on 6/25/2010 & rated 91 points: Excellent for the price. A big nose, some structure, and a decently long finish. Lots of cab and merlot notes, fruity and a bit tannic. Felt a little hot at first, but that receded as the bottle sat open. I'd definitely buy again. (4281 views) | | Tasted by corkscrews on 6/2/2010 & rated 87 points: A nose of dark fruit and some spice, dark ruby in color. A smooth medium bodied blend, dark fruit, some spice, a better wine that I expected for the price, a good mid week wine. Nose: Dark fruit and leather Taste: Extra ripe strawberries with dark fruit and some earthiness. Nice and Dry finish with some mild tannins. Pretty balanced.
Solid medium bodied wine for under $10. (4394 views) | | Tasted by winetennis on 4/18/2010 & rated 88 points: After 2 hours opened: average nose, a blend of mild dark fruit, leather, and a smidgen of earth. Initial attack is watery, mid-palate fades with a mild sour expression, but the finish is bold and tannic. The finish saves this wine and does an admirable job of carrying the load of balancing this wine out. Ok overall, good table wine, given the price point. (4370 views) | | Tasted by Pheffernanvt on 3/20/2010 & rated 90 points: Full & rich, with little acidity. Perhaps JLS will like? (4686 views) | | Tasted by Darkhorn on 2/20/2010 & rated 87 points: Excellent QPR. I will buy more for our Pizza nights.. Huge crème Brule on the nose.. toasty burnt sugar.. dark fruits, black cherries.. silky soft texture, with a chewy mouth feel. not much on the mid, but nice tannins on the back end. (4566 views) | | Tasted by drdebs on 1/24/2010 & rated 88 points: Exceptionally good value for a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Malbec, and Cab Franc. Tar, currant,a nd leather aromas lead to a red currant palate. Opens up nicely with plum and pepper notes so give this one some time in a decanter for best results. Producer websiteRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson CaliforniaNapa Valley.http://www.stagecoachvineyard.com/vineyards/our_vineyards.php Santa Ynez.http://www.everyvine.com/org/Camp_Four/vineyard/Camp_Four/ |
