My last Israel’s wine bottle of 2006. Opened during Passover evening. Full body, deep purple red color still w/o any affect. Intense wild berries aroma complements by leather and cedar wood. Dominant ripe plum and black currants palate, perhaps dewberry notes and lingering juicy finish. Rich, bold and complex but still very fresh, well balanced, lovely berries acidity and firm tannins. Food friendly, probably best match is medium rare meat but also very enjoyable with traditional Passover menu. Serve 18º - 22º. Still needs aeration, open about two/three hours ahead. Drink now and next six years. (2458 views)

Tasted by vlzat on 10/2/2016 & rated 93 points: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Petit Verdot 38%, Merlot 12%

Opened during Rosh Hashanah evening. Full body, deep purple red color. Intense wild berries and floral aroma complements by black pepper and cedar wood. Ripe plum, black currants, dewberry and grape pedicle on the palate, long hot and spicy finish, powerful and rich but still juicy, bold, velvety texture, complex and balanced, lovely acidity, completely integrated firm tannins. Food friendly, best match is grilled lamb or veal. Serve 18º - 22º. Open half hour in advance. Mature, drink now and next five years. (3291 views)
Tasted by Yagil on 9/1/2016 & rated 92 points: Top mature Israeli wines (my home): excellent tertiary nose very good balanced palate (2771 views)
Tasted by Yagil on 7/14/2016 & rated 92 points: Mature Israeli wines tasting (at my home): dark red-purple
wonderful Bordeaux style nose with cedar, blackcurrant and dried herbs - but less impressing when stands next to the 2003...
full bodied, grip tannins, still too young, nice acidity, rich not-ripe-enough fruity flavours, not yet fully integrated, rough, with some oak-vanilla, as well as spicy hints. not yet round as expected. Long enjoyable finish that hints about its potential.
requires further ageing of 1-3 years. (2387 views)

Tasted by mschechter on 5/1/2014 & rated 94 points: Brought to RCC and it was the best of the night, with a close second to the 2007 flor de flor.

Still young, dark fruits on the nose and palate, along with forest berries and a little tobacco

Great bottle of wine (1940 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 12/27/2013 & rated 95 points: This is an amazing wine. Mature and integrated, still improving, but still with bright fruit and firm tannins. An excellent point to try a bottle, but still getting better.

Typical dark fruits and forest berries, really amazing, with cedar/tobacco on the long finish (1621 views)
Tasted by mschechter on 3/30/2013 & rated 92 points: This is supposed to be the best forest ever, but still too young. I'm sure my score has more to do with youth than overall quality, but not good enough to tell the difference. Excellent bottle, very enjoyable, but was out shown by the complexity and maturity of the 2004 Ella valley special edition cab. Give this one a lot more time (2397 views)
Tasted by Rani on 12/10/2011 & rated 90 points: Still royal purple in color, the Petit Verdot component of this wine is quite dominant, with note of green peppers and forest floor. Dark, dense black berries and fine tannins. I think this will benefit from 2-3 years of additional cellaring. (3080 views)
Tasted by aschechter@fbelimited.com on 9/9/2010: Wine was of a deep ruby color, with real heft to it. The nose was deep and dark. Hints of nutmeg and other spices over a dark fruit base. The tannins were prominent and will integrate well as this wine matures further. This wine is a 94 and will cellar well. (2707 views)
Tasted by vlzat on 6/14/2010 & rated 93 points: Full body, deep purple red color, aromatic, red berries, floral, pepper and oak aroma, ripe plum, blueberry, cherry and oak on the palate, peppery and spicy on finish, long fruity finish, powerful but juicy, bold, rich texture, complex and balanced, nice acidity, still tannic. Food friendly. Associates with meat or liver. Serve 18º - 22º. Open six/eight hours in advance, don't decant. Very young, drink 2012 - 2018. (810 views)
Tasted by Rani on 9/10/2009 & rated 92 points: This was actually two different bottles, the 2nd one being slightly more open and better than the first. Both straight out of the bottle - no decanting. Notes of forest floor, blackcurrant and blackberry jam, though quite restrained. On the palate it's very smooth and silky, with fine tannins and just a hint of green bell peppers. I think with 2-3 years of cellaring this will improve. 91/100 for the first bottle, 92/100 for the 2nd bottle... (2798 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.
