Tasted by River Rat on 12/5/2010 & rated 91 points: Screw the anti-flavor elite. This is a tasty wine from a historic old growth vineyard in Paso that will only get better with time. Classic Paso palate of ripe fruit but given some air time it turns into a rich but balanced big wine, with plenty of spice, acidity and tannins to match the fruit. Baby killers shouldn't complain.  Tasted by tpater on 8/27/2010 & rated 80 points: Fruit bomb explosion. Tastes like a headache in waiting. I suppose there's accents of chocolate in there, but you really have to search past the fruit to find them. (3744 views)
Tasted by River Rat on 4/26/2010 & rated 90 points: Rich fruity zin compared to the Ridge Lytton Springs. Tasted more like a Turley. Nice texture and good spice. Everyone enjoyed it. Hides the 14.5abv well. (4269 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 3/7/2010 & rated 92 points: 2009 Ridge Monte Bello Component Tasting (and picnic) (Ridge Monte Bello Vineyard): Dark scarlet red color; ripe berry, spicy nose; ripe berry, black raspberry, spice, rich palate, a touch hot; medium finish (3826 views)
Tasted by yhn on 3/7/2010 & rated 75 points: Overripe and hot. Quickly spit out. About as pleasant as someone bumping into me and stepping on my foot. (3813 views)
Tasted by winepog on 1/30/2010 & rated 89 points: nice solid zin! (3811 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
