Tasted by Amerique on 3/27/2016 & rated 93 points: Delicious, rich dark fruit with blackberry and strawberry flavors and a hint of smoke, excellent structure, ample acid and tannin, nice finish, great value (1490 views)
Tasted by GTFreek on 8/7/2015: 54/23/15/8 Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre/Counoise. Tasted at winery, and a real treat amongst a killer lineup. Get some if you can. (1620 views)
Tasted by stevenjstein on 4/27/2014 & rated 92 points: Big, juicy, red/black fruit, but fairly well balanced. (2023 views)
Tasted by Brunellotogo on 5/8/2013 & rated 94 points: The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Prune, Strawberry Jam, and Red Currant. It tastes like Raisin, Raspberry, and Strawberry. The body is Medium. The wine has Juicy texture. The wine finishes Medium. (2480 views)
Tasted by philipmac on 11/4/2012 & rated 96 points: Decanted 4 hours. Kept opening up. I must say, we paced ourselves on this as it was just the best GSM-type we have had in a long time. Our score speaks volumes as we've never rated a bottle this high. One left, which is fine to keep cellared for one more year. (2732 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 7/27/2012 & rated 91 points: Pop and pour. Nose and palate is full of raspberries. Palate has layers of spice with an intense finish. (1867 views)
Tasted by vinoballo on 9/15/2011 & rated 94 points: Drinking very nicely now! (2690 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 8/14/2011 & rated 93 points: showed nice tonight, goo fruit, balance. (2466 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 2/24/2011 & rated 94 points: Dark ruby color. Brooding dark fruit aromatics. Flavors of blackberry, leather, earth, cherry, and tobacco. Very well balanced. Exceptional mid palate length and complexity. Long elegant finish. Outstanding tonight. (2531 views)
Tasted by wine maestro on 10/17/2010 & rated 87 points: Unique and interesting aromas of autumn spices and warm berry compote. Complex,
intertwined blackberry, dark cherry and mixed berry parade onto the palate. After
a quick start, this wine looses a little steam midway through and lands a tad short
on finish highlighted by chocolate and nutmeg with smoky oak. Tasted a second
time with consistent notes. Terry Hoage tasting room - Paso Robles Harvest Festival. (2434 views)
Tasted by goofy Yno on 7/23/2010 & rated 89 points: grapefruit, lemon nose, jucyfruit gum mouth with good brightness (2626 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 7/23/2010 & rated 90 points: 54% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, and 8% Counoise. Deep ruby color. Cranberry nose. Tastes of blackberry, cherry, mocha, and earth. Well balanced. Rich spicy finish of earth and raspberry. 310 cases produced. (2560 views)
Tasted by dynowine on 5/30/2010 & rated 89 points: Overall a good vin d'effort (with some California terroir) and I look forward to enjoying more Paso Rhonobles as their terroir is unlocked. Wine has alluring nose of slightly sweet and creamy black currant and blackberry with hints of spice. Balance favors the fruit. In the mouth deep rich slightly sour fruit (dark berry, cherry, perhaps some plum) with a bit of chemical on the attack and non-trivial heat in the both the mouth and finish. Finish has nice sour lingering fruit. (2577 views)
Tasted by CRAUBER4242 on 5/9/2010 & rated 92 points: Bright fruit of boysenberry and red cherry with hints of white pepper and mushroom. Finished long and persistent. This was the best showing of this wine for me. Enjoyed with smoked beef brisket, pork shoulder and homemade spicy baked beans. (2665 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 1/3/2010 & rated 91 points: A very nice wine, but not in the same league as a recent THV Grenache Skins. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Counoise, this is deeper and darker in personality. More of brooding nose dominated by gaminess and smoked meats, than the fruit. I think it will need a couple of years to show what it has. The alcohol is more noticeable on this as well (although lower than the Skins 15.4 to 15.1). Much more in line with prior Hoage wines (of which I am a fan at the right time and place). (3245 views)
Tasted by kstoddard on 11/20/2009 & rated 91 points: 54% Grenache, 23% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre adn 8% Counoise. Dark purple hue. Aromatics of blackberry and tar. Tastes of raspberry, anise, blackberry and charred oak. Very well balanced with refreshing acidity that makes the wine light on its feet undoubtedly a trait of the 2007 vintage. Nice depth on the long well rounded finish. Quite nice. 2007 is a fantastic vintage to seek out in Paso Robles. 15.1% alcohol. (3029 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
