Tasted by jmprusko on 3/2/2024 & rated 88 points: no finish (772 views)
Tasted by Yagil on 2/1/2024 & rated 94 points: Piemonte (Barolo & Barbaresco) tasting (at my home): Deep garnet color with a tawny hue.
The nose is complex and inviting, with aromas of black cherry, plum, licorice, tar, and smoke. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, with flavors of black cherry, plum, licorice, tar, and smoke.
The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, and the finish is long and persistent.

This wine is still young and has the potential to age for many years to come. It is perfect for drinking now with a decanter, or it can be cellared for future enjoyment.

Excellent wine. Hedonistic.

Tasted by kr522 on 12/15/2023 & rated 95 points: Delicious and generous red cherry fruit and licorice, with some moderate sweet tannins and a long finish. Has many years ahead of delighting drinkers (857 views)
Tasted by Inforred on 10/9/2023 & rated 95 points: Exceptional. Very nice when opened, and only improved from there. Red color with brick tones around the edge. Big nose with cigar, rose petals, and dried red fruit. Silky tannins coat the mouth and compliment cherry and oak notes, Explosive flavors and a long finish. Classic giacosa (1227 views)
Tasted by Umay Ceviker on 10/10/2022: Crimson fading to garnet. Revealing on its layered nose with a cascade of red berries joined by black cherry, earth and rust with leather and hints of licorice. This was part of a blind tasting where we were only told that out of the three Piemontese wines from 2007 only one was a Barolo. My pick was this one. This is rich and more firmly textured compared to its peers. Has a long, alluring finish. (2247 views)
Tasted by clubs on 4/20/2022 & rated 89 points: Waited too long to open seems. (2757 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 10/20/2021 & rated 92 points: SLDS October 2021: Licorice, pretty roses, spice and earthy notes. Classic weight to the palate with the fruit having good presence against the grippy tannins. Has plenty of potential to keep lifting from here. (2475 views)
Tasted by TONOFBRIX on 10/5/2021 & rated 95 points: Utterly brilliant, like so many of Bruno Giacosa's pre-2008 wines. Double decanted 2 hours before drinking, ready to go. Conterno Sensory glasses. Took it out of the cellar for friends who like Barolo but had never tasted Giacosa, and they were blown away by the delicacy of the wine, the flowers and cherry and leather and sous bois, the tart and long finish. Just another day at the office for the magician who was Bruno Giacosa. (2836 views)

Wine 1

Great start to the evening with this elegant red. Still astringent, yet approachable, the palate was cherry, leather, and slightly floral. Finish lingered. Very well done.

Aging 2026 at least (3057 views)
Tasted by Sundbyberg on 1/16/2021 & rated 93 points: Opened this at 18.00 and had the last glass 2 hours later. But this wine really needed 4-6 additional hours, or even better: 3-5 years in the cellar.

The first 1/2 glass was wonderful (as always) but the rest of the bottle was hidden in tannins and structure. Started to open up a little bit at the end but this needs time.
Will probably be great with additional cellaring. All the ingredients are there.

My third Bruno Giacosa and this is a producer which seems to go for a bit frutier wines.

Have 2 bottles Scavino barolo from 2006 in the winecellar and after this wine I will let them rest for 2-3 more years. (2990 views)
Tasted by bugdoced on 9/21/2020 & rated 95 points: in spectacular shape
cherries dancing in and out of italian earth
evolving and different with almost every sip
liked by all smart enough to try this at Sam' and Sharon's soiree (2861 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/5/2020 & rated 93 points: Ravinia at Home (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Small glass, brief note. Classically floral and spice with an exciting combination of sweet, savory and dried cherry with a sneaky long finish. (3451 views)
Tasted by Rechrom on 4/9/2020 & rated 95 points: A great bottle on night one, and even better on night 2. Developing nose of leather and dark fruits. Outstanding palate savory notes with dark cherry and some leather and herb and plum, with the fruit complementing the rest not dominant. Clean and somewhat astringent on teh finish. This is a great bottle now, and looks like it will get better. (2684 views)
Tasted by BradE on 1/21/2020: Still early days for this wine, which needs lots of air. (2933 views)
Tasted by otto60 on 7/8/2019 & rated 95 points: Legs like.. there is some raisins in the nose. Some healthy funk, tar... hint of rose and raspberry fizzy. Nebbiolo fruit.
More powerful mid palate than 2 years ago, slight bitterness later, gained weight.
This starts developing and is a joy.
Addendum after 5hrs: heavy sediment, noble bitterness, no change in score (3286 views)

Tasted by robferguson1 on 5/11/2019 & rated 94 points: Only my second bottle ever but getting the swing now.
Light with a slight brown tinge but so so long , great drop (2568 views)
Tasted by Jammy Wine on 4/7/2019 & rated 89 points: Tasted blind – Beautiful array of mixed berries, dark cherry, new oak toast and spices. Structured backbone with hints of tar and rose petals. Feels like a modern style of Barolo due to its new oak spices and concentration. Barolo, Mascarello 2008? (89/100) (2786 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 1/27/2019 & rated 93 points: Light medium red with orange impression; lean nose, blackberries; light elegant attack, smoked powerful middle ending in quite some tannins, long smoked aftertaste; quite tasty, but seems quite some way from full potential (2630 views)
Tasted by Charogers on 1/20/2019 & rated 92 points: Fruity and enjoyable after a 2hr decant. Still quite primary, though no reason not to enjoy it in this phase. Did not find it as difficult as some others seem to have. Quite a lot of sediment so worth filtering. (2287 views)
Tasted by NJwineguy on 11/22/2018 & rated 80 points: Fruit mostly gone. (2687 views)
Tasted by robferguson1 on 6/4/2018 & rated 92 points: You have to adjust your palate for the astringent way of this wine and the relative thinness but after that you drink slow and savour the length which give extra miles to the gallon compared to most , great but no hurry to drink up so I’ll leave my other bottles for a while and seek more secondary (3401 views)
Tasted by wineappreciation on 5/27/2018 & rated 92 points: Roses, hints of ash and dried cherry; smooth, elegant, poised, medium bodied, and very good length with slowly descending finish; not particularly dynamic but very fine indeed (2970 views)
Tasted by Claret & CdP Gang on 5/6/2018 & rated 93 points: Light red, lots of layers, served blind, this had a stunning complex peacock nose, utterly mesmerising, a masterpiece by Giacosa but the palate never really matched the nose but still a very good wine

WINES OF THE WINERY "AZIENDA AGRICOLA FALLETTO"The grapes are grown in the winery’s own vineyards and vinified in their cellars. These wines are sold with a label bearing the wording: "Azienda Agricola FALLETTO"– di Bruno Giacosa

Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo is a red grape indigenous to the Piedmont region of Italy in the Northwest. The grape can also be found in other parts of the world, though they are not as respected.

Nebbiolo is often considered the "king of red wines," as it is the grape of the famed wines of Barolo DOCG, Barbaresco DOCG, and Roero DOCG. It is known for high tannins and acidity, but with a distinct finesse. When grown on clay, Nebbiolo can be very powerful, tannic, and require long aging periods to reach its full potential. When grown on sand, the grape exhibits a more approachable body with more elegant fruit and less tannins, but still has high aging potential.

"Nebbiolo" is named for the Italian word, "nebbia", which means "fog", in Italian and rightfully so since there is generally a lot of fog in the foothills of Piedmont during harvest.

Nebbiolo is a late-ripening variety that does best in a continental climate that boasts moderate summers and long autumns. In Piedmont, Nebbiolo is normally harvested in October.
