Tasted by mpsocal on 12/23/2021 & rated 86 points: Surprisingly still fresh. Very juicy wine. Seems like an Aussie styled wine. (813 views)
Tasted by drinknick31 on 11/15/2021: Definitely held this one a little too long. Past its prime. Tasted terrible. Bottle was not flawed just not a good wine. Surprising all my o younger Sterlings have been good. Just not in an ageable bottle. (813 views)
Tasted by Docemann5 on 2/20/2021 & rated 91 points: Well expressed dark purple fruit. Mellow tanins and deep oaky black berry with blueberry finish. Enjoyed with ceaser salad...finished before the entree so I guess it was that good! Lol. (1025 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 9/25/2015 & rated 89 points: A lot of wines (Raj's Birthday); 9/25/2015-9/26/2015 (Cleveland Heights): Nice showing. Purple in color. The nose has nice cassis, bit of vanilla. Clean on the palate. Ripe black currant fruit. Mild tannins. Some complexity. Very tasty wine showing a bit of complexity. Nice finish. Pretty classic $20 Napa Cab. (4783 views)
Tasted by merlot78 on 6/15/2015 & rated 82 points: 3 years since my last bottle and somewhat disappointed. Very drinkable but has no distinguishable features. Just a plain ordinary everyday wine, (6601 views)
Tasted by Raja on 4/15/2013 & rated 88 points: Great QPR for widely available napa cabs under $20. Lacks layers and depth but enjoyable for a week night (10936 views)
Tasted by 422dbowlsby on 9/26/2012 & rated 85 points: Not bad, but there is better available at this price. (13211 views)
Tasted by cardinalfanrc on 6/22/2012 & rated 89 points: Very good. Buy again. (11709 views)
Tasted by merlot78 on 4/5/2012 & rated 89 points: Did not pick up anything as far as smell. However we all agreed that The this wine was well structured and is drinking well right now. The tannins were there but were ver so gentle. I like this wine. (11540 views)
Tasted by tlang_bc on 2/12/2012 & rated 87 points: Decanted for 1hr before drinking. Very easy drinking and smooth. Fruit forward - not particularly complex. A decent table wine considering the price. (9731 views)
Tasted by TheDarkPrince on 1/29/2012 & rated 90 points: Another great wine from Sterling. I tried the 2008 and it doesn't come close to the 2007. This will evolve for another five years, but its drinking splendidly right now. Kirsch like on the nose, with typical napa cabernet notes on the palate. Black cherries, with a hint of maple syrup. Sweet on the attack. Fill your boots if you can find it. Disgracefully cheap for the enjoyment provided.

Tasted by ddsolomon2000 on 1/5/2012 & rated 84 points: Nothing special. (5216 views)
Tasted by mcease on 12/4/2011 & rated 80 points: Not much here - fruit forward with a sour finish. Sterling usually doesnt disappoint - may have been a bad bottle? (5392 views)
Tasted by Wine Gopher on 9/29/2011 & rated 88 points: Solid purchase for $15. Decant and let it open up. The wine started very narrow and unexpressive but really opened up after an hour. Red fruit and earthy Rutherford dust are the predominant flavors. (1996 views)
Tasted by CoffeeBeerPizza on 9/8/2011 & rated 72 points: Clash, nothing there (6244 views)
Tasted by pavel_p on 8/8/2011 & rated 88 points: Pop and pour at restaurant. Dark garnet to the rim. Somewhat closed nose with some oak. Very smooth and velvety on the attack, very fine tannins, followed by some heat on the mid-palate. Nice medium finish. Pleasant easy drinking wine but not particularly complex.
Surprised how well the rest of the bottle holds up 24h later. Basically unchanged, the fruit is still there as are the fine tannins, and unfortunately also some heat on the palate. Should be therefore good for several more years (6860 views)
Tasted by gilberto57 on 7/28/2011 & rated 82 points: Dark red in colour, with purple hues. Aromas of blackberries, oak, and baking spices. The palate detected blackberries, blueberries, baking spices and a touch of vanilla. A little rough, with firm tannins. Good! (3179 views)
Tasted by ID on 7/22/2011: Decent. Has enough body to stand up to most foods. No problems. But I recall paying $25, and I don't think I would pay that much for another bottle. (1861 views)
Tasted by jawegs on 7/11/2011 & rated 91 points: Very nice! (6897 views)
Tasted by NJ BIG CHRIS on 6/3/2011 & rated 88 points: Nothing special but a god solid fruit forward cabernet. The price is great considering its under $20. (7333 views)
Tasted by cejohnson on 5/2/2011 & rated 85 points: Very smooth! (1920 views)
Tasted by pk236768 on 4/26/2011 & rated 91 points: Tasted when first opened and this wine was just average. However, after decanting for almost two hours it was phenomenal. (7752 views)
Tasted by Joemerch on 3/13/2011 & rated 91 points: Very smooth nice bouquet (8093 views)
Tasted by pehm1231 on 3/9/2011 flawed bottle: - Crimsom color. It's unbalanced with a light/medium body. Narrow texture with a short finish - Average, decent table wine. Nothing to write home about. (8252 views)
Tasted by tbailey540 on 2/28/2011 & rated 86 points: Had at tasting, nothing special (8126 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
