Splash decanted and drank over the next 90 minutes. Almost opaque ruby-red color. Full-bodied. At first, it was dark fruits ? plums, blackberries blueberries ? with a bit of a funky aftertaste. After 90 minutes, it is still primarily black fruit, but there are some red berry overtones. After 90 minutes, the off-putting aftertaste became some interesting spices. If you can find it, this wine is way-better then its price point. I highly recommend an hour plus in a decanter or letting it sit in your cellar for a couple more years. I'm betting that in the year or two I would give this one a 91 or 92. (1803 views) | | Tasted by Zuperdaave on 12/31/2013 & rated 85 points: Very good. Sweet scents of cherry and honey on the nose. Even flavor; smooth. Cherry flavor. A bit syrupy. (1968 views) | | Tasted by ToddS on 5/29/2013: Decent QPR. Slightly fruit forward in one glass. Next glass is pepper and spice. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson |
