Tasted by PolarBear22 on 10/15/2017 & rated 90 points: Dark color. Very little sediment. Great dark fruit with a long finish.

We finished up the bottle after dinner. Not a lot of acid, but went as well with food as on its own. (2150 views)
Tasted by ToddR911 on 3/24/2015 & rated 91 points: Was thinking this was rated in the 80s Day 1 but as it opened up the complexity came out and it was really smooth on Day 2. So I'd put this as a nice wine to drink on a regular basis and pair with a wide variety of food. (4184 views)
Tasted by MCrawford on 7/7/2014 & rated 88 points: Nice wine. Decanted 30+ minutes. Had with grilled chicken and peppers. (4828 views)
Tasted by mb8752 on 1/25/2014 & rated 80 points: Sweet, dark currants, lingering finish (5322 views)
Tasted by redbrix on 9/26/2013 & rated 88 points: Duckhorn's "everyday wine". Matches the hype and lighter than anticipated. Deep Dark Redwith bold nose of blackberries, fig and cherries. Complex fruit with vanilla tones. Rich an balanced. (5703 views)
Tasted by Jtfees on 9/12/2012 & rated 89 points: Enjoy it now (4668 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 4/25/2012 & rated 88 points: A nose of cherries and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with currants, cherry, some vanilla and spice on finish, a good blend. (4182 views)
Tasted by BeaverBob on 4/19/2012 & rated 90 points: Dark garnet color, Bright sweet cherries on the nose, nice legs, dry medium finish. (4060 views)
Tasted by Lax4 on 2/19/2012 & rated 87 points: decanted as I poured. good flavor for the price. (4384 views)
Tasted by Sour Grapes on 2/10/2012 & rated 79 points: Unbalanced. Oak mutes some of the fruit (hidden cherry flavor) and there is heat on the back end. Not the best effort and, at best, a pass. (3656 views)
Tasted by Mike Kopanski on 2/9/2012 & rated 87 points: Thursday Walk Around Tasting Without a Theme 2/9/2012 (WineStyles Columbia, SC): Made in their ready to drink style, this one is a little more austere and less inviting than some of the other vintages. Still a very decent wine, it does a good job of showcasing what Napa Valley Cabernet tastes like. The color is textbook Cabernet, possibly a little on the light side. The nose has a slight greenness with some green olive, vanilla, and cranberry. The fruit leans toward red with more cranberry and strawberry. Very smooth, subtle, and soft in the mouth. Might be on the end of it's "dumb stage" where things are just starting to wake up. Nice touch with the oak. Silky smooth tannis. Soft, supple finish with graphite, red fruit, and a hint of cocoa. (3178 views)
Tasted by ToddR911 on 2/3/2012 & rated 89 points: Nice cherry fruit with hint of spice. A little bit of heat/alcohol but not overly so. (2650 views)
Tasted by jackal4eva on 1/30/2012 & rated 85 points: Tight open, needed to decant. Balanced fruit and tannins - a very typical airline/table wine. Not at the level of previous Decoy vintages. It's a shame Duckhorn no longer uses its own grapes in Decoy -- but even their higher end wines are starting to lose the quality of a few years ago. (3240 views)
Tasted by jackal4eva on 1/30/2012 & rated 86 points: Better on the second day - much more of a fruity jammy napa cab (3232 views)
Tasted by sms21 on 1/16/2012 & rated 88 points: - Garnet color and has flavours of black currant and honey with a medium/full body. (3356 views)
Tasted by macker100 on 11/24/2011 & rated 88 points: Turkey day selection. Rich nose with blackberries and vanilla. Palate was very sweet and confected. Rich black cherries with spicy backbone of acidity. Expected better. (3072 views)
Tasted by MRamirez on 10/1/2011 & rated 85 points: Solid Bottle, good value for the price. (4087 views)
Tasted by Winecat on 7/30/2011 & rated 87 points: Good blend for the price. Upfront fruit with a finish (3139 views)
Tasted by Edporto on 6/27/2011 & rated 83 points: Balanced but boring. (4904 views)
Tasted by omars on 5/20/2011 & rated 89 points: Wow, this Merlot was bursting with flavor. Really enjoyed it. (5377 views)
Tasted by bruceb on 5/7/2011 & rated 90 points: Great depth of color. Intense fruit and modestly long finish. Pleasant and well worth the price. (5640 views)
Tasted by TexasBob on 4/26/2011 & rated 87 points: Lite red. Musty, vegetal, and medicinal nose. Notes of red fruits, spice, forest floor with a sweet aftertaste. Tasted at the Wichita Wine Festival. (3844 views)
Tasted by Phanges on 4/19/2011 & rated 90 points: Smoother than a lot of other cabs. Good every day cab (5640 views)
Tasted by tigerpaw75 on 3/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Went great with grilled NY strip. As with the first bottle, was better 2-3 days later than the first night, even after a 2 hour decant. Believe this one has enough stuffing for medium term (3-5 years) cellaring. Good value on Napa Cab for $17-18... (5885 views)
Tasted by Likuid on 3/16/2011 & rated 85 points: Simple cab which paired well with some chocolate. (5979 views)

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
