Tasted by ShadowIII on 5/7/2023 & rated 92 points: from double magnum, etched label, dark cherry, spice, forest floor, mushroom, long finish (326 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 3/15/2022 & rated 92 points: No specific notes as this was enjoyed with friends. The earthier funkier side of KB that took a minute to blow off. Worried it was a bad bottle but things self corrected. Not a favorite. Remeber liked it better when younger. (1084 views)
Tasted by PSUSteve on 5/21/2021 & rated 93 points: PnP. This is full and deep and vibrant red fruit wrapped in a smooth package. Would have never have guess it was 13 years old if served blind. (1289 views)
Tasted by Jonathan T on 5/11/2021 & rated 94 points: Gorgeous. Very perfumed, and the red berry fruits were still very fresh and vibrant. I wouldn't consider it cola. No hard edges whatsoever. Everything you would expect from a well aged Kosta Browne. (1228 views)
Tasted by TwistedArmadillo on 3/28/2020: A little light, still showing the Kosta Browne expression - drink now. Drank with the 09. The 09 still has a bit of time (this year). (1477 views)
Tasted by D.Callahan on 3/22/2020 & rated 91 points: Delicious maturing Pinot from RRV. Not the over rich KB but full flavored and balanced. (1183 views)
Tasted by davudvl on 2/26/2020 & rated 92 points: Great wine (855 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 7/5/2019 & rated 94 points: Old style Kosta, deeply extracted, dark fruits (1200 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 7/5/2019 & rated 95 points: Classic KB cherry cola, but the tannins and fruit have mellowed out with age. Really good. Mouth coating fruit. Bottle 6275/7207 (846 views)
Tasted by TwistedArmadillo on 6/14/2016 & rated 94 points: Awesome wine - nothing else to say - only one bottle left - ugh. (2415 views)
Tasted by rustyRudy on 12/27/2015 & rated 95 points: Garnet. Sweet cherries, cinnamon, cherry cola and some spice. Drinking well tonight! Took to a restaurant and went well with sweetbreads and multiple other dishes. This has matured into a really nice well balanced Pinot. (2592 views)
Tasted by andrewdodd86 on 12/27/2015 & rated 96 points: Cherry, cola, some tannin but has settled down with age. Cranberry, nice vanilla, cinnamon. Good juice, aged to perfection. (2257 views)
Tasted by jimmythesaint on 11/6/2015: KB Amber Ridge seems to fade with age. This bottle was tired and hot like Madonna pre Sean Penn on the first go around. I was hoping for some secondary characteristics but just never got past papa don't preach. Note: did not decant but drank at cellar temp and over a few hours. Have a glass left and will note if any improvement tomorrow. (2265 views)
Tasted by Daisy1995 on 10/10/2015 & rated 87 points: I have a lot of KB and love their wines. This one wasn't one of my favorites. (2250 views)
Tasted by gossba on 5/11/2015 & rated 92 points: Good wine but had higher expectations for this. Fruit was somewhat muted compared to typical KB. Finish was slightly dry. (1814 views)
Tasted by lvjohn on 4/6/2015 & rated 93 points: Slow to open (no decanting possible). Very delicious with pronounced red fruit and strawberry flavors. Nice finish with good length. (1442 views)
Tasted by sreisgolf on 3/9/2015 & rated 92 points: A very nice full bodied Pinot. We just popped and poured and although there is a little alcohol, the fruit is big enough to really enjoy now. I think this has a few years before it hits it's prime. Nice big cherries and some other dark fruits. (1662 views)
Tasted by GalvezGuy on 2/17/2015 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. Nice nose of black cherry, clove, sour cherry, and spicy oak. On the palate, full bodied with black cherry, clove, vanilla, sour cherry. Finish has good acids and decent grip. Still detect too much alcohol. Well made, just not my style. (1575 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 10/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Similar tasting notes to the previous bottle, but with a touch of heat on the finish. (1930 views)
Tasted by tomherer on 10/10/2014 & rated 94 points: Nothing to add to my 2012 note -- just chiming in a couple years later to say that it hasn't slipped an inch and is still putting on one hell of a show. Has to be in a peak window; enjoy now. (1515 views)
Tasted by suburbanfrog on 10/7/2014 & rated 92 points: Bigger style of pinot with notes of plums and raspberries. Concentrated with a great nose. For the price, I would prefer the Sonoma Coast and Russian River bottlings which are just as good! (1530 views)
Tasted by theodore3 on 10/1/2014 & rated 93 points: usual Kosta powerful Pinot. Very good. (1479 views)
Tasted by twelch on 6/30/2014 & rated 94 points: Drinking really nicely. Big Kosta Brown fruit and spice filled nose. All the flavors of Cherries and spices flowed into the mouth where they all burst into action. Really a great cocktail wine. Don't know if i would pair it with any food. (1832 views)
Tasted by DavidDay on 3/15/2014 & rated 96 points: So good it almost stopped us from going out to dinner, all anyone in the group wanted to talk about was how good this Pinot Noir was, and did Publix carry it. Black cherries and cola, rich layers of flavor, a lingering finish. (2007 views)
Tasted by pjhr on 10/31/2013 & rated 93 points: Delicious dark cherry and berry aromas and flavors with hints of cedar and spice culminating in a long finish. (2335 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
