Beaucoup de dépôt. Vin assez rond qui a perdu beaucoup de sa puissance depuis la première bouteille ouverte en 2011. Je le préférais en jeunesse et je lui donnais 90 points (2011-03-23). (5066 views)

 Tasted by mike410 on 9/2/2014 & rated 93 points: 3 years since my last tasting. This wine has developed very nicely. Smooth tannins and a touch of acidity makes this a very balanced wine. Black & red berries and a hint of vanilla and caramel. Give most super Tuscan's time to develop and what you get is an amazing wine. It's a shame to drink these wines at any price too early.  Tasted by YoRi on 2/25/2013 & rated 88 points: J'hésite et il me faut une dose d'audace pour écrire ce commentaire mitigé sur un vin qui reçoit beaucoup de critiques élogieuses d'un peu partout. C'est suite à la lecture du feuillet technique publié sur le site du producteur Antinori que j'ai repris confiance dans mon appréciation. Je repoduit ici un extrait du producteur:
"The 2008 harvest gave us wines with wonderful aromatic expression, probably due to helpful temperature fluctuations in September and a normal ripening of the fruit. As a result, the fragrance characteristics of the grapes were able to reach their maximum potential and with a smoothness which never before had turned out like this particular year. ... complex notes of sweet spices and hints of menthol. On the palate the wine is soft, with wonderfully silky tannins..."
Mon appréciation:
Malheureusement cette bouteille après plus de 2 ans couché en Cave a été placé à la verticale 2 mois avant son ouverture. Elle a été soigneusement carafé et son apparence est dense et assez limpide malgré une bouteille marquée par beaucoup de dépôts.
Rouge amarante foncé.
Au nez le vin est assez fermé et dégage des arômes auxquels je suis peu familier, je retrouve la prune et un peu de ces épices utilisés dans la tarte au mincemeat, fumée d'érable, doux sans apreté.
En bouche: l'attaque est marquée par la richesse, c'est ample, beaucoup de corps qui se maintient en milieu de bouche, les tanins sont tout à fait intégré et soyeux. Saveur de kirsh et chocolat, léger soupçon de fumée. La minceur de l'acidité me laisse cependant une vague impression de surrichesse, un vin trop mou, sur le déclin comme s'il s'agissait d'une bouteille de plus de 10 ans. Pourtant il ne suffirait qu'un soupçon de nervosité, de "grip" pour placer ce vin à 90. Je maintiens tout de même une curiosité sur les prochains millésimes, serait-ce une de ces rares maisons dont les maîtres de chais laissent s'exprimer les saveurs du temps, tel ce qui caractérisait cette année 2008 à Bolgheri, alors là je dirais Bravo et deviendrait un fidèle de cette marque. Unimpressive and disappointing palate, especially when considering the very good 2007. A bit closed up and acidic, but with some of the fruit already fading. Still an OK wine. Medium bodied. Notes of smoked meat, BBQ sauce and allspice drift out of the glass on a background of dried prunes and dark fruit.
