| Community Tasting Notes (average 93.5 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 17 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Pinot_Geek on 9/14/2022 & rated 95 points: Honeyed, nutty, sweet dried stone fruits (peach, apricot), balanced by a spine of welcome acidity that keeps you going back for another taste. Just delicious. An out-of-left-field WOTN for me. (697 views) | | Tasted by decaturwinedude on 8/25/2022 & rated 94 points: Just lovely. Beautiful gold to bronze color. Apricot, jam, orange sorbee. it's at first rich and decadent, but buffered with the most lilting and zippy acidity. Just coats the palate and sails on and on. Hard to put down. (669 views) | | Tasted by skurtz on 1/6/2022 & rated 94 points: Lovely liquid apricot, still youthful. (894 views) | | Tasted by skurtz on 11/26/2020 & rated 94 points: From coravin, liquid mandarin, tangerines, hints of lime. Smooth and delicious pairing with Thanksgiving dessert! This is a gorgeous dessert wine. I eventually opened the bottle and enjoyed it over a week. It held up fine in the fridge after I opened it. A great holiday celebration wine. (1176 views) | | Tasted by skurtz on 2/20/2020 & rated 95 points: Tasted at the winery, golden color, intense dried apricots on the nose and palate, acid nicely balancing out the sweetness. Nice heft and viscosity. (1362 views) | | Tasted by InVinjeVeritas on 3/19/2019 & rated 91 points: Colour like a porter ale (reddish light brown). Good development- Although not a full dessert wine quite sweet (100 gr rs), maybe a little to much for foie gras on toast. Touch of bitterness in the aftertaste typical for pinot gris. Probably around peak now, but could be drunk for decades. (1103 views) | | Tasted by GalvezGuy on 5/31/2015 & rated 93 points: Clear amber color. Nose of petrol, baked apple, poached pear, and spice. On the palate, golden raisins, Christmas spice, baked apple, hints of date and fig. Long finish with piercing acidity. (3422 views) | | Tasted by oldcorke on 11/1/2014 & rated 98 points: I don't have words to describe how good this was tonite. Maybe tomorro my senses will return. It's delicious, but not ready yet. Maybe 2-5 more years... and it will be a 102 pt wine. (3569 views) | | Tasted by GalvezGuy on 5/3/2013 & rated 94 points: CT Texas V - North Dallas Forty and then some; 5/3/2013-5/5/2013 (McKinney, North Dallas, TX): Another reminder that I must have more Pinot Gris from Alsace in my collection. This was simply beautiful with a nose of pineapple, orange rind, golden raisins, and stone fruit. On the palate delicious with candied orange peel, golden raisins, dried pineapple, stone fruit, and honey. Piercing acidity on the finish balances this out. Glad I have some. (4896 views) | | Tasted by hadwin on 10/14/2010 & rated 92 points: Domaine Trimbach (Cellar Door): Deep amber colour and shining like a jewel. Beautiful candid peel and barley sugar on the nose. Raisoned, rich, smooth with more barley sugar and candid peel following through on the palate. Focused and long. (5290 views) | | Tasted by tendring on 10/14/2010 & rated 93 points: WES Tour of Alsace - Trimbach: Smoky barley sugar, delightful, elegant nose. Pure and beautiful wine. (5399 views) |

Alsatian Pinot gris are medium to full bodied wines with a rich, somewhat floral bouquet. They tend to be spicy in comparisons with other Pinot gris. While most Pinot gris are meant to be consumed early, Alsatian Pinot gris can age well. German Pinot gris are more full-bodied with a balance of acidity and slight sweetness. In Oregon the wines are medium bodied with a yellow to copper-pink color and aromas of pear, apple, and/or melon. In California, the Pinot gris are more light bodied with a crisp, refreshing taste with some pepper and arugula notes. The Pinot grigio style of Italy is a light-bodied, often lean wine that is light in color with sometimes spritzy flavors that can be crisp and acidic. Although this wine can be very sweet, it will begin to lose its acidity when it is nearly ripe.
Pinot gris is considered an "early to market wine" that can be bottled and out on the market within 4–12 weeks after fermentation. Varietal character (Appellation America)
