Tasted by njc2o on 3/31/2012 & rated 75 points: Saturday Afternoon Tasting (German Village, Columbus, Ohio): color: very pale straw-yellow. nose: giving up little. basically non-existent. vague rubbery/plastic sensation, but that may be ambient in the room, as i'm struggling to pull out anything from this. palate: nice weight. floral/herbaceous sensation on the mid palate. awkward astringent acidity kick on the back with a wollop of alcohol. finish has decent length. awkward wine.  Tasted by StuckinPA on 5/2/2011 & rated 86 points: light straw color, some peach and petrol on the nose, light bodied with peach, some nectarine, and floral flavors. Nice finish, plenty of flavor. Nice wine to consider with sushi, cheese. Not spectacular, but a serviceable table wine most people will enjoy. (2540 views)
Tasted by Lexer1980 on 12/15/2010 & rated 70 points: Disappointing: expected more perfumes and flavours (2608 views)

Domaine de la Solitude - Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The Lançon family, owners of Domaine de la Solitude, descend directly from the 12th Century Barberini family of Rome.

The best known of the family, Maffeo Barberini, was a papal nuncio, or diplomatic representative, in Paris from 1604 to 1606, and was made Pope in Rome under the name Pope Urban VIII.

Two of his nephews became cardinals and a part of the family then settled down in Avignon. In the 1980s, brothers Michel and Jean Lançon took the future of Domaine de la Solitude in their hands, focusing attention on the vineyards.

Over the past several years, Michel’s son Florent Lançon has taken over the day-to-day operations of Domaine de la Solitude, continuing to make improvements while preserving the traditions of his father and uncle.
