2009 E. Guigal Crozes-Hermitage Blanc

See wine details

Accolades:
92 Pts.- Robert Parker: “The 2009 Hermitage Blanc (Approximately 93% Marsanne And 7% Roussanne) Reveals The Floral/Acacia Component Of Marsanne Intermixed With Copious Buttery, Waxy, Honeysuckle Notes, A Full-Bodied,
Steely Mouthfeel, And Lots Of Glycerin And Heady Richness. It Must Have Around 14.5% Alcohol Given Its High Glycerin, Yet It Possesses Attractive Elegance From The Minerality And Old Vines From Which It Is Produced. This Beauty
Should Be Drinkable Reasonably Early And Last For 10-20 Years.”
Winemaker Notes:
Hermitage Is One Of France’s Most Spectacular And Famous Appellations, But Hermitage Blanc Is One Of The Least-Known Yet Most Intriguing Wines Of The Rhône Valley. Composed Primarily Of Marsanne (95%) And Small Amounts
Of Roussanne (5%), It Is Relatively Rare, Accounting For Only A Small Percentage Of The Production Of The 309-Acre Hermitage AOC. The Vines Are Between 30-90 Years Of Age, With The Various Blocks Planted On Granite-Limestone,
Clay Loam And Sandy Gravel Topsoils On The Famous Granite Mother Rock. Yields Are Under 2.3 Tons Per Acre.
Tasting Notes:
Eye : Consistent Straw Yellow.
Nose : Complex Nose With Dominant Floral Vegetal Notes And Acacia Honey. Elegant And Delicate Oak.
Palate : Spicy With Good Structure. A Wine For Ageing.
Overall : Overall Balance And With Deep Complex Aromas Characteristic Of These Rare White Wines.
