Community Tasting Note

  • vortexsurfer Does not like this wine:

January 13, 2023 - I have no idea what I'm doing, but here we go: It smells a bit like forest floor, raisin, cherry and black pepper. Not much interesting going on flavorwise - some leather and hints of berries, maybe some dried fruit. And you can really taste the 14,5% alcohol. The body is medium I think. The wine finishes short. The wine has high acidity, and is a bit too bitter (or is that tannic?) for me. Ok as cheap company for some cured meat and hard cheese, but won't buy again. Bought because it was recommended as a wine that would be enjoyable for someone who likes Bordeaux? As a wine newbie whose first love is Bordeaux I have to say this is nothing like any Bordeaux I've tried so far.

7/2/23, 1:55 PM - Whoever said it was like a Bordeaux was pretty far off the mark. It's made from grapes, and it's red, but apart from that... I reckon it's much more like a Shiraz from a warm part of Australia: attractively perfumed; very ripe, to the point of sweetness; high in alcohol and low in tannin. I like it and think it's amazing value, but I'm not surprised at your disappointment given that you were expecting something similar to a Bordeaux!
