  May 15, 2023 - The Grenache and Mourvedre are a beautiful combo. The 2018 Songs I opened a couple of years ago had a bit more verve and a suggestion of incense that really good Grenache can sometimes express. This bottle shows a richer palate, with cocoa, cardamom, and that savory leather scent. The tannins are not fierce or grippy, but convey a lot of texture. I prefer the more youthful profile but this 2017 is also lovely and was a good match for Qeema Aloo and chapatis, and was even better the next day. Perhaps Songs of its Own is best enjoyed in its youth?
