June 9, 2023 - Cherry red, 14.5% abv 70% Sangiovese 20% Merlot 10% Petit Verdot.
Not inky but a very youthful and joyful Chianti red at 6 years old. Fragrant fruit of cassis, sour cherry/amarena, backed by lovely notes of bay and ripening field tomato. Really delicious, light to medium body (the Merlot adds some fleshiness), not at all jammy or showing alcoholic heat, in fact quite Italian, the most Italian tasting California Sangiovese wine I've had. The freshness and intense fruitiness are backed by sufficient acidity and tannin, but there is still a suggestion of tree ripe cherry fruit sweetness. A good afternoon red, everything in balance without heaviness. Pure delight.130 views
