August 16, 2023 - Color/App: medium-deep ruby core -> diffuse garnet rim; medium + viscosity. Quite the lovely, masculine bouquet of black cherries, sous bois, mushrooms and figs and earth. Big, sturdy palate showing off currants and cherries (again), beetroot and bramble within a structured framework. Rustic and old world for sure, showing a nice spine of acidity and minerality. While I like it, it does seem far more Gevrey than Chambolle. A mix of Les Sentiers, Les Chabiots and Les Chatelots. Perfect for drinking now and -- given the structure -- probably quite a few more years.
