A bottle last night at St John Marylebone was an outstanding example of young serine/Syrah. Medium bodied with very supple tannins, it has a solid core of red-black fruit and an interesting spice note. The acidity makes it very food friendly as well as promising a bright future. Perhaps in time the tannins will firm up before it begins its slow evolution, but you could worse than open one up right now if young Texier is your thing.
