February 4, 2024 - Didnt show as well as I expected. Opened for 75th birthday and it was surprisingly light and had lost some of its fruit. Secondary aspects had not come forward as much as I expected. Was stored for 20 years at 57 degrees and 70% humidity so I don't think provenance was an issue. Maybe my palate just likes younger wines. Had earlier bottle 3 yrs ago.

2/7/24, 2:48 AM - I have found these take awhile to open up, sometimes better on day 2.
    Happy Birthday!

2/7/24, 9:11 AM - I did drink over a couple of days. Got better, but not appreciably so. Couldn’t compare to bottle consumed three years ago, acquired at same time and stored same way. Dumb phase, bottle variation? Thanks for birthday wish.

2/27/24, 6:08 PM - I'm with you -- I think my palate also prefers 'younger' wines (though one could argue this wine at 24 yrs old is 'young'). For me 10-15 years is kind of max on Bordeaux and 20 is pushing it though I did have an '82 Cos d'Estournel in 2009 that was downright magnificent. I have some '10 Pichon Baron that I'm just waiting for the right time to open -- got to happen this year I think! Good note and Happy B'day. Terrific wine to open on such a special day.
