April 26, 2024 - Medium garnet.
Dried berries, figs, cedar nose.
Toast, cedar, dried fruit palate.
Very good, but not quite the level that I expected having read all the other reviews (including RP.)
I didn’t decant and maybe should have. Will do so with the next bottle.4 people found this helpful 2,413 views

ps....I don't think this ever gets to 96. 92-94 tops for me. -

Very helpful.
I’ve been a little confused regarding decanting older reds since reading Kerin O’Keefes article in Decanter last year.
I’m planning to try the 2007 Tondonia this evening so will decant a couple of hours before tasting. -

I've found these particular Rioja are robust enough for a decant even at 16 yo. Depends on the grape and the manufacturer, more than the actual age of the wine, imo.

4/27/24, 7:13 AM - For sure needs a decant. Also, remember for Rioja 06 and 07 aren’t ’old.’ These would only have been released in the last 5 years or so. It can be misleading but they need time and air IMO
Hope the Tondonia shows well for you!! -
