  April 27, 2024 - Dinner at B&A: Blind. Mid to full garnet with a hint of dense ruby at the core. When I had these a decade older I thought this might be 89. Compared to a bottle in late 2021 this is quite evolved and less vibrantly, joyously fruited. Fruit profile perhaps a little diffuse. A slightly curious lactic note not dissimilar to that on a recent 04 initially, then this seems to clear. What turns out to be the 02 alongside seems to be getting the love, and I can see why, but as this 01 opens and evolves in the glass I have a soft spot for the slightly redder fruit, silkier texture and brighter acidity. Not a top bottle of this though, however lovely. ****
