  April 27, 2024 - Decanted for 45 minutes after pulling from cellar. Threw a good deal of sediment, and continued to do so throughout time of consumption. I think this is at the beginning of its drinking window. It showed off a a beautiful nose redolent of black cherries, tar, and leather. Mouth echoes nose, and is higher toned than might be expected given the wine’s dark color in the glass. The rim doesn’t show any sign of aging. There’s a certain rusticity here, with lovely earth and savory notes. I’d expect some improvement over the next few years as the soft tannins further resolve and the wine sheds its youthful character. Let next bottle stand up for a couple of days and then decant before serving.
