October 12, 2009 - Moderately deep color, reddish hue at rim, moderately fine mousse. Aromatically very fruit driven with plenty of red cherry, raspberry aromas... plenty of stones, no hint of barrique influence... moderate amounts of toast... no sign of oxidation. On the palate the wine is big and masculine with very firm acidity, full and rounding midpalate, low to moderate dosage, fine effervescence, and weighty/creamy mouthfeel. A balanced wine with good length and intensity... moderate + complexity. Certainly finesse and a full/firm texture here... very expressive of its Cru status and village of origin. As noted by others this is not delicate Champagne and does do better in Pinot glass than flute... very impressive.
