October 6, 2009 - 14.4% alcohol. 87% cab, 7% merlot/, 6% cab franc. part of a small vertical (01-04). my bottle, not decanted, which i don't actually think caused the sub par performance, because it didn't develop much in the glass. i presume naysayers will allege the wine was closed. get over it. i last had this wine (my bottle again) with roy piper a couple of years ago, and it was superb. scott just had it a few days prior, and he relayed that this bottle was well below that performance, too (a bottle he didn't decant). shit happens, i guess. the wine seemed muddled with tannin. it did have a nice, promising nose, but it couldn't transition to the palate. i like the term scruffy for this bottle. hardly undrinkable, yet so off from before, it was a bummer.
