January 7, 2012 - Nose is jammy, but has an underlying old word mineral/soil component.
Pretty big fruit, at first there was an astringent mouthfeel that disappears almost immedatly leading to pretty intense berry. Really interesting. Not weighty, medium finish, some acid comes through as well.
As is typical of a relatively inexpensive Barbera, this is going to be a very food friendly wine, and would certainly make for an excellent house red, or match with any traditional Italian fare (think pasta with a meat sauce, or Lasagna!) Good Stuff!
