February 7, 2012 - Fully mature Burgundy with nice texture in the mouth yet of medium aromatic intensity and complexity. Nose shows notes of undergrouth, sweet spice and some stewed berry fruit, clean and healthy but in no way exciting. Palate is medium bodied fruit is fully mature, plummy in character, with dried leaves and some bitter chocolate notes. Acidity is quite high but there is enough extract and fruit to balance it so that overall feel is round smooth and supple. Tannins leave a slightly astringent finish which otherwise is fool of sweet spices and stewed fruit. Good length. Good but not really exciting and rather expensive for its money. I would not keep much longer.
