March 19, 2012 - This is a big-un. Was decanted before dinner, consumed during over about a 2 hour meal. It starts off tight in the palate, wrapped up pretty good but starts to release a bit with air. Based on what we had last night, this oughta last a good while, for another 5-7 years. As for how it shows now, this is throttled syrah, with iron, dark fruit, gets close to the line of being over the top but not quite. A meal of a wine that uniquely has large aromatics but a more reserved palate, where the wine is a bit more restrained in throttle, as odd as that may sound to hear. Recommend to let some of that structure soften and catch up to the aromatics. Heady and good.
