September 13, 2008 - From my Dad's cellar. A nose you could lose yourself in - classic burg but with all the bells and whistles: spices, earth, plummy fruit, exotic with brown sugar, iron, blood, root beer, and chunky tomato. Definitely not focused and linear - a whirlwind of Pinot. Rich plummy palate with cherry fruit, earth, asian spices. Very chewy with stems, brambles. Nice mouthfeel and good acid. Finish is not long, but good. The wine is probably about 3-5 years past its peak. Still on the plateau, but slowly heading down. I drank about 8-9 bottles from this case, and they all have been spectacular and delicious, if not focused, burgundy. This bottle was a little weaker than the others, but still great. Nose - 6/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 2/2 = 17/20.
