January 19, 2013 - It's been a while since I haven't had any Pegau and this Reservée 2009 did not disappoint. Displaying a dense purple robe, this 2009 possesses this distinctive first and second noses exclusive to Pegau's Chateauneufs. The nose is indeed full of hay and artichoke then underlined by dried barks.
The mouth is clearly less exclusive, which is a good point as the nose tends to be overly expressive, especially in this 2009. It develops a great acidity framing some red berries and an extremely light truffle note.
This is clearly a great vintage for Pegau Reservée, though, this has the Pegau's touch on steroids which can cause some distaste to those expecting some artistic restrain in their Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
